Under the Duvet

Friday question...

What's your most treasured possession and why?

My sanity!

Why? Well I’m the only normal one on here, right? I mean it’s everyone else that strange, isn’t it?

A little, ragged, and now very threadbare, teddy. He's been handed down since my Great Great Grandparents. He now resides with my little one.

My dogs. Not that I class them as possessions but in a way they also are.

Hefty Hideaway

My nana’s pearls and a little tortoise brooch I got when she passed on.

I’d like to also say my sanity but that’s long gone I fear.

My Dad's medals. They constantly remind me what a hero he was to me, and others.

"My growing sense of who I am."

I didn’t include things I don’t consider possessions but consider them rather as gifts of grace. However I’ve had to search deeply, over many years to begin to answer the question ‘who am I’ more satisfactorily.

Possessions are overrated.I treasure moments in time and the way people make me feel.

My car collection.

There's other things, but they're the most important.

And why? I just love them, & have restored a few of them myself, some are very rare & are irreplaceable.

"My guitars"

Of those things that have been paid for it would be my guitars, because music is my deepest passion. And like Frisky the memories associated with photos are irreplaceable.

However my most treasured moments in life would still be our wedding day and the birth of my son. My sister’s recent second wedding, my Mum’s 80th and my Mum and Dad’s Golden Wedding a few years ago would also feature as truly special.

The whole of my family and those few people I consider to be really close friends are valued beyond words.

And finally I’m also blessed enough to have had a few really treasured moments already this year and I am thankful for them and to those who shared in them

I don't have any things I'd run into a burning building to save.

I'd miss the blanket my mom made for me 25-odd years ago, but these days I'm mostly attached to people, not physical items.

I think it goes without saying that the vast majority of us value family & friends above any possessions, but the question was about possessions?

Hiding in the shadows

Family aside.

My dad's wedding ring which I wear on my thumb.

The family medals, which are on the mantelpiece, next to my Tower of London poppy - first things I'd grab if the house was on fire.

Anything else is replaceable

My son (okay strictly not a possession). But you get my drift.

My great Uncle's "Widow's Penny" WW1 medal. You had to die to get one.

A Roman Coin I found.

A suicide note. Bad one... but hey? Whatcha gonna do with it? Throw it away?

"Possessions are overrated.I treasure moments in time and the way people make me feel. "

Some certain possessions though, can trigger some very precious memories of treasurable moments.

Strictly speaking you're right, but I'm being flexible as there have been some great answers
