I generally work outside. So layers. Thermals, then normal trousers, top, jumper, thick coat, us waterproofs and hat/gloves.
Indoors it's the same - more clothes. We haven't had the heating on since last winter.
Bed has an electric blanket that goes on before we get in and then stays on for half an hour.
But I'll confess to ramping up the hot baths. Plus using the dog as a blanket.....

Well you say it's unsexy but that's all in the eye of the beholder 
On the other hand sexy lingerie under comfort... How can you go wrong!
