Been there. Not great but I'd been expecting it for a couple of years so wasn't exactly out of the blue.
Had a good spell of gardening leave but after months of coming second in interviews, largely I strongly suspect due to age and being over-qualified I decided to go self employed in a totally different field.
Love it.
The money's nowhere near as good but the quality of life is leaps and bounds ahead.
Look at all your options and take some time before deciding on your next move. And get any support offered - it's always worth it.
Good luck.

"We knew it was coming..but hey ho..at least I got a good pay off. 19 years service. Party time!"
Make sure you don't go crazy.
You never know when the next pay check will arrive.

That's not quite as bad but still not ideal.
I've only been made redundant twice, Mr N has been made redundant 6 times. |

Don't sweat it Op -it's bound to happen to everyone sooner or later. I work in an industry at the coal face of recessions so have seen the pink slip many times over -just put all your energy into updating your c.v. and applying for as many posts as you can is all I can say |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
"Already got a few interviews next week so fingers crossed.."
Good luck with the interviews.
Do take any support offered with the redundancy, such as interview preparation. I've had to make people redundant in the past and so few took the support I had set up for them.
