Sapiosexuals, pretentious much ?!

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

Aren’t sapiosexuals just more attracted to the appearance of intelligence rather than actual intelligence. As we all know that the word “intelligence” is from the Latin “intelligere”; that the Latin participle for wisdom is “sapiens,” not “sapio”; and that the Latin “sapio” means something that tastes good.

But of course sapiosexuals already knew that.

So are sapiosexuals just pretentious in the same way vegans are and couples who put ‘professional’ and ask for ‘exceptional males’ ?!

You'd have to ask them, to get their individual feedback. My assumption is that they use the word based on their own interpretation of how they perceive qualities in others. It's a preference, like many others

People who appear intelligent but actually aren't?

Memorize a few facts and you can baffle most of a pub crowd.

Personally ive found people who call them selves "sapiosexuals/sapiofiles" are always a bit dim and tedious.

Thier version of intelligence isnt anything solid its more "i muse about things on the bog and think im deep".

Try and have a conversation about something that requires a little reasoning and instant glaze over.

Genuine question, everyone likes to have stimulating flowing conversations, that’s just a given, doesn’t mean we have to call ourselves anything different.

Of course they do just they tend not to use psudo Latin terms about sexuality :p

On inteligence though a fun fact is men have a flatter distribution curve for iq

The vast majority of women will be average iq (around 100 ish which is meant to be 70% of the population) as you go to the extremes of genius and legal mentally handicapped they drop off very rapidpy.

Men however at the extremes are rwpresented almost 2 to 1 compared to women. That is there are almost doubble the number of the very very inteligent men and doubble the number of very very low iq men.

Hence why men arw over represented in scientific fields qnd also prison populations.

Part of the theory is that inteligence is governed by the X chromosome like a lot of the "rapid" evolution things.

This means nature effectivly experiments on men. Women are too valuable to risk with dodgy mutations so thier doubble x chromosome means they will always tend to wards a balanced middle, men with just one are much more exposed to these changes though.

Red green colour blindness massivly effects men as its on the x chromosomes, but they also show an increase in low light sensitivity which may have been benificial for hunting so it survived but inky affects men.

But the flip side of this is a lot of inteligence is inherited from the mother not the father for male children as thats where they get thier X.

Anecdotally seen when rich inteligent man marries bimbo trophy wife and has stupid spoiled children.

Tl;dr guys get a smart woman so your kids will be smart too

Fertilization also kills the male genetic mitochondria therefore killing off male inherited intelligence.

Inherited intelligence is stored in the X chromosome btw.

Intelligence is one of the features I am attracted to but I would never call myself sapiosexual, other factors are as much if not more important.

As a term and a way to define yourself self and your attraction it's fine. Many people are attracted by intelligence. Although in my experience lots of people I've come across who self describe them self as Sapisexual have tended to be a little pretentious.

I just don’t buy that intelligence is the first thing they are attracted to, surely it’s looks that draw people in first.
