“Orwell’s thought police is now a reality. Humberside Police are investigating a man for retweeting an offensive limerick -- they even contacted him to ‘check his thinking’. It is now normal for police to investigate ‘non-crime hate incidents’.”

Now this kind of thing is a reality. Are we fucked ?

I heard online the other day that a man was visited by police for a post he liked on twitter! I don't think it was particularly controversial either. Can't recall the details though. Worrying? Very.

I was just answering the question of what the limerick was about. I wasn't commenting on whether the Police should have been involved or not.

They have little resources as it is. Unless it was seen as stirring up hatred for a group of people, they shouldn't get involved.

If i retweeted, "men are fucking stupid assholes" i doubt it would get attention but no different.

Is the police force becoming the paramilitary wing of the Guardian newspaper?

He's probably right! And I'm sure it won't be long until tweeting that will be mandatory!!!

It reminds me of the Cathy Newman interview with Jordan Peterson.

Cathy - Why should your right to freedom of speech, trump a trans person's right to be offended?

Jordan - Because in order to think, you have to risk being offensive.
