So I'm currently excersing alot and not loosing weight it's frustrating I've dropped dress size I'm still a BBW but have went from a 16-18 to a 14-16 yet the scales say I weigh the same. I'm aware muscle weighs more than fat but it's god damn frustrating

.

Did you take measurements ? As you could be losing inches instead of lbs

Hiding in the shadows

As I tell all my clients

Do not focus on weight.

Body composition is what counts

Get yourself measured on a body scanner, use a tape measure, arms, chest, waist, hips, top of thighs, above knees, calves.

Take photos (in undies) same day every month.

You can drop body fat, drop several dress sizes but your weight may not show a significant loss x

Manchester (she/her)

Focus on how you feel. Does the fitness make you feel better?

FTR

I hit the very top of the obese line on my Dr's chart.

I would have to lose 3st to fall into the 'healthy' range on it!

Just around the corner

"Focus on how you feel. Does the fitness make you feel better? "

That works for me. I just feel happier in myself when I’m exercising regularly, and worry less about ‘results’.

Well you are obviously losing fat if you are going down dress sizes, don't get obsessed by the scales, it can be very demoralising.

The weight will go down eventually

Muscle doesn’t weigh more than fat - it just takes up less room in your body. 1lb of muscle is the same as 1lb of fat.

Loosing inches and coming down in weight is more about food for me. I lost weight training for an ultra marathon but I lost twice as much by making sure my eating was sensible. I need to do it again but it’s harder second time around

Track your calories, move more, eat less, take progress photos - don’t focus on the scales

A pound of fat doesn't weigh anymore than a pound of muscle. I got to the same stage as you, nothing coming off the scales but losing a dress size more. Sadly Doctors and the like go by scales

Yes they do.

And it royally pisses me off!

I take GP referrals, specialise in obesity.

I recently had one client in tears after her monthly check at the Drs.

She didn't see her usual GP as was on annual leave.

The one she saw was so rude to her, told her she was wasting her time & money seeing me, as she's only lost a stone in 8wks.

He point blank refused to look at her stat sheets.

She may have only lost a stone, but she's lost 17% body fat, 37" overall & dropped 3 dress sizes!

Yes, I wrote a complaint!

I always target 2lbs a week when trying to lose weight, a stone in 8 weeks is bloody great!

Blimey, a stone in 8 weeks is about normal anyway? How much did he want her to lose? But that's the problem with only taking note of the scales. You would think Doctors would use all the stats instead

I'm fitting into jeans from about 15yrs ago but I'm heavier than I was when I got them. The scales can be frustrating but try not to focus on the number. Look at your shape and be aware of the changes in your body as you exercise, tighter tum, more toned legs and arms etc. Good luck!

I would never recommend loosing more than 2lbs a week max.

Rapid weight loss can have other side effects.

She needs to lose 6st according to NHS guidelines , she's diabetic, needs surgery

I know the GP I take a lot of referrals from her.

We have agreed a plan, and she also appreciates & understands body comp.

So the aim is 3st in weight & 26% body fat.

This other gp basically told her the usual line. Eat less move more.

When someone has serious health, diet & mobility issues that isn't easy & requires qualified support.

This lady could do that, crash diet, do unsuitable excercises & cause herself harm in the process.

That is one of the things I put in my complaint

It proves one size doesn't fit all.

I know someone who used to say the same thing, eat less, move more. She didn't have a problem with weight she could eat anything and stay the same size. Then she had her third kid and put on weight sniffing a chocolate bar, she soon changed her mind that losing weight isn't so black and white anymore
