I haven’t had a meet for a while. When I did though, I met a guy who had 47 on his profile but was actually 10 years older. Unusually, I also met someone who was younger than stated, as he liked older women.
I’m soon to enter the 50 club, my age is correct.
Why do so many knock years off? Even using old photos. |

I have met several men doing this- telling me they are 45 when in reality they are at least 10 years older. Immediate turnoff for me nothing has progressed from there.
I am 45 and have never felt the need to hide my age! |

A very high percentage of men I have met from here had their wrong age up.
A few younger ones were younger than they said. One 45 year old was nearer 60.

My age is correct. What's the point in lying about it? You'll only get found out when you finally meet, as the ladies who've commented have already said.
I don't understand why people get so hung up on age to be honest. It's just a number at the end of the day. You're only as old as you feel, both physically and mentally.
Around 11pm on a Saturday night I feel like I did in my 20s. Around 8am the following morning I feel about 90 until I've sobered up a bit.  |

Can’t understand why you would lie about your age, it’s just another thing to cause someone to lose their trust in you and if they can’t trust you why would they want to do anything else
I look younger than I am, even being id’d by one meet once which was awkward to say the least |

I've no idea why others do it..
Well there is a theory on here for men that women won't look at anyone over 48 so perhaps thats a reason why there are so many of that age knocking around...
As for me, I've never lied about my age as i dont see the point, but people I have met say i could get away with knocking at least 10 yrs off my age  |

My age is slightly different as I don't like people to cotton on to my couples profile if I'm meeting alone. The pics are very different to try and keep the two separate too. |

My age is correct, I was told I look younger so should put my age as younger, well as I have a penchant for older men that would be silly.
I've met guys who admit they have the wrong age. I usually question them on their age during a social. |

As I'm not in the habit of giving away personal information to complete strangers my age isn't my actual age. My pictures are real and recent(ish) so my actual age is irrelevant. People don't like that or don't trust me because of that? That's up to them. I'm not here to meet a significant other so it really is none of their business. I don't tell people my real name or where I live either. I like my anonymity on here and I'd like to keep it that way.

I don’t know why you’d knock years off your age.
Id be interested to see if people would talk to people who they wouldn’t normally on here if we didn’t put our age in stall and had to go off what people look like. |

Understandable.
Question though, is your age within the ballpark of your real age? By that I mean not greatly exaggerated?
No judgement, just that I'd not personally be bothered by an age lie if it is close to accurate. But 10 years or more and it would be something to make me think otherwise. |

We haven’t changed our age or told a white lie on it but obviously others do, the only problem we have with that is what happens if you decide to meet and the pictures exchanged weren’t current? Could be awkward

Yep right age here, was id’d for alcohol last year though so don’t look like I’m 40 in 3 weeks.
I’ve been in a group of fabbers in a club and ironically the fab age came up in conversation, on fab i was showing as the oldest, reality though I was the youngest of the lot! They do it to get round filters, have to say though some can get away with it, one gorgeous extremely fit guy knocked 15 years off and could definitely get away with it. |

My profile has the right age on it too. Really don’t see the point in lying. It’s not like it wouldn’t be obvious when you met with someone anyway, and then how could they trust you about everything else? |

I'm 53, will be 54 in May, don't see the point or need to lie about it, the last time I did was to get served in a pub.
If people take my age into account for anything that's their prerogative and not mine to worry about - likewise if people choose to lie about their age, their prerogative, and if they've lied about it so ridiculously that people don't believe it, then more fool them.
Personally I don't understand the need for anyone to, but not for me to say either way. |

I met a guy who’s profile says 28 but he’s actually 22. I was not impressed. He was very inexperienced and wanted to meet an older women who could teach him. I’m sure some women love that. Not me. |

My Fab age is my real age. I don't feel that makes me more identifiable because there are many many thousands of other women exactly the same age as me. Maybe it puts some people off and obviously it affects search parameters but I've never lost any sleep over that because it is what it is |

My age is correct, although my salt and pepper (going "saltier" every day) possibly makes me look older.. Sob.. Sob..
I did meet a woman on here who was showing as 43, when she was actually 55! Fortunately she looked great for her age, so It wasn't a problem. I may have considered her outside my preferred age bracket back then, so I would have missed out on a very enjoyable meet if she hadn't fibbed a little. |

People lie about age on here for numerous reasons!
Vanity, avoiding being ‘swinger spotted’ by fake profiles who are looking out for people that they know, or to bypass filters - both younger or older!
I know I’m out of a lot of people’s age range now - particularly couples - but happily I still manage to get the occasional fuck! |

Put it this way. Over the 6 years I've been meeting I've not once had anyone question it when I've sent face pics and when we've met. The less random strangers know about me the better as far as I'm concerned. Hope that answers those that question "why lie?" ... and I never actually said whether I've added or taken off years  |

I've been tempted to put a lower age in our profile as apparently I look 10 years younger but I'm happy being 52 and think that if people won't meet us because of my age then it's their loss, not ours.

My age is 3 months or so out, purely because I don't trust sites to not get hacked (I got caught on Ashley Maddison) but I'm really 47.

I find myself excluded from all sorts of meetings... Including purely social evenings because I am 62...the upper age limits for a lot of things is 60 ...what difference does a couple of years make ... I can understand if someone doesn't want to meet anyone over 50 ..but there's not much difference between 55 plus and 60 plus... |

Lots lie about there age, it’s common on fab and rather pointless, people really are kidding themselves when they take the “you look 10 years younger” seriously, it’s just a chat up line.
How we’ve giggled at face pics of people who claim to be 10 years off younger than us only to discover they are most certainly not.
Hubby hits the big 50 in a few weeks which will probably mean we go off a fair few people radar, oh well.....

Mines deliberately wrong. I've never denied that.
Never been questioned to my real age either on here, on a meet or in a club. Nor have I ever asked anyone else. Likewise I don't ask if the names people give are genuine or not, if they live where their profile claims or what their inside leg measurement is.
If someone tells me they're 35 then they could realistically be anything from 30-40. Can anyone actually claim to be able to accurately state the age of a stranger via a photo or even upon meeting face to face?
If someone fudges it by a year or two, so long as they look like their photos if/when you meet who gives a shit?
Sure, it's pointless knocking a decade off. But as Scarlett said - it's amazing how nobody else apparently on here seems to ever be cautious enough with personal info to consider taking a year off their age. Methinks there may be a few fibs being told....
