I know what it is! I want other people's view on it.....that's why is says definition how would you define a swinger / swinging....it means different things to different people for me it means socialising with like minded people |

For us swinging is just an extension of the ethical non monogamous lifestyle we have lived as a poly couple.
It involves us making meaningful friendships with people we also have fun with.
It's a package if you like that is not just about sex.
With this in mind you could define a swingers who likes to have friend they have regular sexual fun with as part of their friendship xx |

Why do people have such issues now days about wearing labels/titles
We are people that have many different labels in life and as long as those labels are not just being used to stereotype is what's wrong with them
We use labels/titles to identify like minded people for one. |

Not at all. Stereotyping and identifying are totally different things
If I am looking for a bi male I will look for people who label themselves as bi.
That does not mean I have a stereotype in mind. |

The original definition was coined in the 60s to define anyone that subscribed to free love rather than the traditional sex within marriage lifestyle - hence the term Swinging 60s.
Since then it has been borrowed by many to mean different things and therefore has lost any sense of a single definition, so I guess it's whatever you as an individual want it to mean. |

For us it's meeting like minded people to socialise with and hopefully make friends with and if the added extra is sex then great. Swinging is not something you can really talk about with your friends or family about and meeting people in the same boat as you really helps as it's good to talk about it with someone other than your partner |

Couldn't have said it better. The hang ups about labels and who is allowed to be considered "proper swingers" have no place here other than to feed division prejudice and stoke up anger over labels that mean very little. |

Couldn't have said it better. The hang ups about labels and who is allowed to be considered "proper swingers" have no place here other than to feed division prejudice and stoke up anger over labels that mean very little."
