Species specific? You wouldn't call a cat "Rover" or a dog "Ned" for example.

A lady that used to live across the road from me back in the 60's used to have a Fox which visited her and used to sleep in the same bed as her Labrador on occasion, they were both female, so I now know that it was a Vixen and they might have had lesbian tendencies.

I once knew a lady who called her cat ‘Big Boy’. She once shouted him in for his tea and the local builders all were happy and cheering at her. She changed his name to Tiger after that.

What’s it called?

Mine are wicket and Leia after Star Wars characters, one mate from uni has named hers after Harry Potter characters and another’s named them after marvel characters so when we get together there’s wicket, leia, Myrtle, Luna and Loki running around
