Do they really work?
How do they deal with you?
I only ask as via work I have, along with others I may add to go and talk to someone over an incident.
Talking to a stranger is not something I want to do and if honest, feel strange
Any advice very much welcome x |

Therapy is different for everyone... maybe it will be good with you.. all depending on the incident.
Be prepared to open up about what has happened.. you will probably find it all comes out easily.. rmember therapists are not there to give you answers.. but are there to listen to YOU so dont expect a quick solution...
So basically just relax.. chill out and say only what you want to say..
I really hope this helps you

Are you talking therapy or counselling, they are very different. If it is related to a specific incident then it is more likely to be counselling.
Counselling works by giving you a safe non jdgemental space to explore your emotions/behaviour. You are in charge, you will not be offered advice but will be expected to reach an understanding of what behviours and attitudes do and dont work for you.
Rogers the father of person centered counselling described the relationship as one where you both grow, he advocated respect, honesty and genuineness, in that enviroment a person can flourish.
Thearapy, or psychotherapy is more long term and believes there are patterns of behaiour in us all rooted in unresolved childhood issues, only by exploring these and drawing them out into the open can we be a fully expressed adult, if we do not face them we exhibit symptoms of what was once called neuroses.
Personally therapy can work, i believe but only in certain circumstance, counselling is more generally helpful.
Of course there are good and bad counsellors and you only get what u are willing to invest in the experience.
