Kate Winslet Wins Best Actress in a Miniseries Golden Globe ... just love her and was looking at one of hers last night The Reader. Post-WWII Germany: Nearly a decade after his affair with an older woman came to a mysterious end, law student Michael Berg re-encounters his former lover as she defends herself in a war-crime trial.
I think one of her best films.

Not only is Kate as sexy as buggery, she has also starred in some fantastic films.
I love The Reader, but have also enjoyed her performances in Little Children, Revolutionary Road and Iris.
She is also in one of my favourite films, The Life of David Gale, but then again I am biased as Kevin Spacey and Laura Linney are in that too and in general I enjoy their work too. |

The Reader is good, but if you want a film that concentrates on a courtroom scene in Nazi Germany, go find a copy of Sophie Scholl.
Alas it is in German, so not for those 'allergic' to subtitles, but it had me transfixed and is a true story.
The acting is also compelling by the lead actress.
For those who have never heard of her, the Wikipedia page reads :
Sophia Magdalena Scholl (9 May 1921 – 22 February 1943) was a German student, active within the White Rose non-violent resistance group in Nazi Germany.
She was convicted of high treason after having been found distributing anti-war leaflets at the University of Munich with her brother Hans.
As a result, they were both executed by guillotine. |
