I was working in a front garden yesterday when a car back fired and spooked an old lady's border collie in the park opposite. The dog took off at a pace down the busy road much to the owner's distress.
I dropped my tools and duly gave chase, a labour of love as running's never been my favourite pastime. I eventually caught up with the terrified hound and after some coaxing picked her up and returned her the her grateful owner.
She offered me cash as a thank you but i told her to give it to an animal charity instead.
