It's being reported that Phil has been in quite a nasty fender bender. I have no feelings one way or the other for the family, but as a human, I hope he's ok. But, he's 97 years old. I'm sure he's in the best paid-for health, but should a 97 y/o still be driving? Not just him, obviously, but anybody of that age without regular re-testing?

"Yes, if they are still confident driving"

Should it just be down to their own opinion though?

Definitely should not be driving. Anyone over 70 should be tested yearly.

"Definitely should not be driving. Anyone over 70 should be tested yearly. "

They are tested every few years.

There's plenty of incompetent drivers of all ages, and people driving with poor vision long before 70.

Simply giving a number as the critical cut off isn't a solution in my opinion.

But young drivers cause more fatalities?

They are never re-tested. They just have to fill out a form saying there are no health issues that prevent them driving.

Not sure when it was on, but there was a program about 100 year old drivers.

There was a bloke give or take a year about 100, he was told he safer on his 125 motorbike than most other bike riders.

I'm not sure how I feel if I'm honest, but I saw the funniest clip on Facebook the other day about it.

"97 you say? No no no no.. I was doing 51. I'm very much looking to get to 100.. one day.. mmmh yes hahahahaaa"

Best thing I've ever seen.
