Having to dodge a blackboard rubber* incoming at Mach 2 from that stern teacher who somehow could see exactly who was playing up behind him despite facing the other way writing on the board!
(*kids, ask your parents. A blackboard was like one of those green chalkboards or a whiteboard, but black. I know, perish the thought!) |

67 replies in and we’re STILL waiting for our first ‘white dog poo’ of the thread. The forums aren’t what they used to be. Disappointed, people. Disappointed! |

"Insignia! For one all over smell! "
God. I plastered that horrible stuff over myself most of my teenage years. I could smell it as soon as I read your post, and I’ve not used it in 30 years. It’s the 1980s in a can .

There was a bar of chocolate, a bit like a Bounty, but it had other ingredients to make it more 'tropical'. Was it 'Cabana', or something like that?
Anyone else old enough to remember it? |

"My chopper and grifter
Chopper - lethal!
Drifter- Brilliant! The father of BMX and so cool "
Tomahawk, chopper, grifter. All can be seen in transport museums. Covertry is good. You realise how poorly put together and awful these bikes were. It's all there was that was remotely ok. Expensive too.
We're now spoilt for choice with everything. |

"Video shops...
My young son loved video shops. Got us away from his hag of a mother. He got to choose a few and grabbed the biggest bag of popcorn. "
Yes, my son and I would fumble through the 99p for a week rack each time we visited, got talking to the guy in there for recommendations as to if they were any good. Popcorn and a pot of Icecream...it was like a day out before a night in.
Much more enjoyable than sitting down and pressing stream in my firestick. |

Even better was a video shop tucked into the side of an off license or newsagents.
Usually the shop would be either divided in two or just a rack of films along one wall.
For the main part most of the film's where straight to VHS ones that are awful.
Occasionally a good film would come out or a "video nasty" and it was spread via an amazing thing called word of mouth ,this for the younger viewers out there is when two people converse face to face and actually talk.
Usually you would have to wait something like two years for a big blockbuster movie to come into VHS following cinema release.
Unless you had someone who could get you a pirate copy.
These where mostly absolutely shocking quality and unwatchable.
Ahhh those where the days.
When I say beta you say max.
Beta.... |

I miss clothes shopping in London's Carnaby St and Neal St during the 90's to a soundtrack of the Stone Roses, Primal Scream and the like. Designer labels such as Destroy (John Richmond), Nick Coleman and Michiko Koshino I certainly miss, as I also do having a choppy Weller-esque hairstyle.
Those were the days |

Did someone say old Jamaica rum choccy....I was talking to someone about this the other day. I cant find it anymore but had it only a couple of years ago from Tesco.....other supermarkets available.
I miss going to the local shop for a 10pence mixture and getting tons of sweets for my pennies....mostly mojos as they were only half pence....Oh and I miss the half pence piece, everything went up when that was fazed out. |
