Iv tried both and im firmly in the slimming world camp.
When I did weight watchers I was always hungry, I hated counting points, I was miserable, and it cost me a fortune, not the fees but the food, everything I bought was weight watchers, but the family wouldn't eat it so I found myself buying food for me and food for them, and cooking two different meals every night. To top it off I didn't lose alot of weight because I found myself cheating alot.
Slimming world for me is the total opposite. Once I had my head around how it worked I was losing weight steadily every week and I was enjoying it, not only that but the whole family loved the food, I re discovered my love of cooking
Which have you tried and which, if any would you recommend?

I am currently trying to do weightwatchers and its ok I am doing it online so I add the food and it calculates the points for me.. I have loads of points so I tend not to feel hungry just bored with the food.. Slimming world was ok I did not get on well with it.... Good luck though you can do it... xx |

another reason I prefer slimming world is because its not a diet, it is more of a learning program that teaches you how to eat healthily which once you have reached target weight is easy to maintain, with fad diets once you stop the diets its so easy to put the weigh back on. |

With WW i had loads of points and sometimes found it difficult to eat all the points. If i didnt eat the points id not lose the weight. Found it was very specific. I used to automatically get my points calculator out when shopping and i could now still estimate what is worth what by looking at calories and saturated fat.
Loved that an entire packet of those Pink & Whites wafers were 3 points :D
Im currently giving Slimming World a go, on week 2 and feeling good about it |

i found after a few weeks i was bored of eating the same things, which was when i bought some of the cook books and found great inspiration, i dont think i would have be as successful as i have been if i had not gone to the weekly meetings too. so far iv lost nearly 4 stone. |

But what happens when you reach target weight and you stop using diet chef, does it teach you along the way how to eat and cook healthily? |

I have tried both.. found I struggled with slimming world.. didnt like the idea of sins..
found ww very easy and always have..
however I have swapped now to rosemary conley..and finding that I lose far more weight..
as for a start fruit isnt free... and I had never realised just how much fruit and veg I could eat and how many calories there was in it..
All work if you stick to them..and I was never hungry on ww...
But the good thing about Rosemary conley is.. I count calories..and it has to be less than 5% fat... oh and exercise is part of the class.
I have lost 6lb since my first weigh in... and bare in mind I was already dieting.. so that was a good loss.
Out of slimming world and WW though.. for me it would be WW everytime as I just find it better for me...
I didnt like the green and red days..
I looked at that diet chef and it would triple my food bill for the week.. as I dont even spend that much on my WHOLE house shop.

Im currently munching salad at least once a day and either having a fruit salad & muller light for breaky or as a snack in the evenings.
I use the website for recipies. Our local SW has a facebook group that we all share daily thoughts, tips, recipes, pictures of newly made meals.. its just all motivation knowing we are in the same boat. Even if someone has a bad day they post it, and its like a confessional. People just say draw a line under it and tomorrow is a new day to get back on plan etc
Love it. |

I've done both, but I'm ever so lazy and hate cooking, so Weightwatchers was definitely the best for me.
It was still the points system when I last went (is it still?) anyway, I bought one of their little electronic calculators and it's still helpful now when I want shift a few pounds
... I've just ordered a recipe book for that 'Dukan Diet' I've heard although it's not great for long term, it's really fast iitially, so I'll try that for a couple of weeks boost then get back on the points |

Cali with Slimming World there is the Orange option called 'food optimizing' its a mix of both red & green and exceptionally simple to stick too
When my mum tried SW about 10yr ago it was red & green and thats what i expected it to be now, but was introduced to the best of both plans.

I joined Slimming World last week. My first weigh in isn't until Wednesday. I think SW is for hungrier people. I started healthy eating the week before and managed to lose 10lb just by cutting things out and eating more salad and fresh fruit.
I'm looking forward to weigh in..I will let you know how it went |

I've done both, and tho I lost 7 and a half stone at WW a few years back I prefer SW, I was always hungry on WW and it wasn't long before the weight started creeping back on, so I thought id try SW when I decided enough was enough and I had to get back on the diet, I am finding I'm loosing weight slower on SW tho I am loosing every week still but I'm finding it easier to stick to as I'm not hungry all the time and I think it will help me on the long run so as not to put the weight back on again with feeling fuller and loosing the weight slower, here's hoping anyway |

The orange option is called "Extra Easy" and has been available for about 3 years now - fabulous weight losses from it, all over the country - we always recommend new and rejoining members to use Extra Easy then they have the Original and Green options as well if they slow down and want a boost. Food Optimising is the umbrella term for all Slimming World eating plans - it's not a diet, it's healthy eating for life x |

I have tried both and lost more on Slimming World.
I need to go back and tone uo (stomach) but just have not got the motivation.
I am currently size 16/18 and don't like it. I suppose I wil need to get myself together and go back to SW.
Good luck and don't give up...

SW for me. Tried WW and I couldn't get into it at all.
I have lost over 2 stone with SW since October and I am never hungry or thinking I am having to overly watch what I am eating. It has just re trained me to think, plan and cook for myself |

this is the reason i love SW i found WW didn't always encourage healthy eating as i could of eaten my points in mac D or mars bars if a so desired but on SW the syn value of such things are so high you just naturally void and head toward more healthier stuff naturally
ive currently lost almost 7 stone although only the last 2 was with them but i feel they are perfect for me and will get me the rest of the way |

I just found it a lot of messing about... I lost over 11stone with ww before. However they are all virtually the same...
I was never hungry on ww but found myself starving on slimming world...
I'm eating 1200 Cals 5 days a week. 1400 for the other two... I count everything.. and am shocked at how many hidden calories you could consume on both ww and sw...
I think it only matters what works for you... Reduce calories... Increase exercise and want to do it.. and you will.

slimming world all the way for me, its completely changed my life, i eat loads and loads, if your on extra easy its a doddle when you go out for meals. Its not just the fact ive lost weight, my whole thought process has been changed.
Iv just been out for a big fat carvery and i used my syns on my gravy cause its made with meat juices. I just couldnt bare the thought of putting rubbish into my body again.
I did ww once in my life, i did it for a month, stuck rigid, was always hungry and only had lost 2lb at the end of the first month.
However, i am a strong believer in different weight plans suit different people, its finding the one that works for YOU.
I also did rosemary conley 21 years ago, you followed a book in those days and ate exactly what it said and did the exact exercise. The book was a months plan, my friends lost a stone i lost 2 lb. But did find out the reason why, i was pregnant and didnt know |

I am now wondering if I should give SW a go. Or if I should stick to WW and see how that goes.. I have quite a lot of points so don't find myself hungry. I will see I guess I do want to shift this weight this time around as I want to have a bit more confidence.. |

I am also doing slimming world and surprised how easy it is to follow little changes make a big difference. I have also tried Rosemary connelly diet class that had great benefits too instead of chatting we did a work out. Shame can't do the same with slimming world health and fitness combined. |

I am just curious as to why the OP was finding that the food on WW was expensive.. I lost a lot of weight with WW over the years.. once lost over 10stone in 18months.. BUT... I never brought special meals.. just went back to basics and cooked meals
I cant see much difference really.. Its like some say you can eat what you like on ww.. but true is same on any eating plan.
I could for instance when I was on WW have a mcdonalds meal.. BUT... did I really want to waste 17 points on a strawberry milkshake.. not to mention the fries etc..
but I did like knowing that if I had.. I knew what it had cost me
I as I have said am now doign calorie counting and its working so much better..
I worked out on fruit and veg alone ( which is free on most things like ww and SW...) that I can easily eat over 300calories just in fruit and veg.
What ever I am following I eat the same sort of foods.. what matters to me was more the support from others knowing what it is like

But if you lost over 10stone you must have gained some of it as you say you have lost 6stone, so it didnt change your attitude to food. Thats the big thing for me, my attitude to food now and what i want to eat. Slimming world isnt a calorie based diet so it works differently but as you fill up with superfree food which is basically fruit and veg your taking in less calories than if you where eating bars of chocolates. As ive said so many times, its what diet suits the individual. One diet could work for 99% of people but if it doesnt work for you as a person it doesnt matter |

Tonight was my weigh in, Ive been off food most of the week due to toothache caused by a sinus infection (according to the dentist) anyways i've not been eating as many super free as i could have. I stayed the same. So my 3rd weigh in and i've lost 9 1/2 lb.
My mini target for next week is 4 1/2 lb. Its totally possible especially with my increase in body magic. I plan on making my fat cry :D Xx |
