Does anyone use a knee pillow

Jump to: Newest in thread

In the leaflet my chiropractor has given its recommended to use a knee pillow - I’m not talking about the one that goes between your knees but the type that goes under when lying on your back. Has anyone used one before or currently using one did it help and is there a specific brand type they would recommend?

This is elliviate pressure on the number region of you back (L3 to be precise) and is recommended for lower back issues. Contrary to popular belief lying flat on your back still puts undie pressure on the over region due to the curvature of the spine.

Sorry treated injuries in a past life x

Even the thought of laying flat on my back causes me to wince, I live in fear that I'll be unconscious in a hospital somewhere being nursed supine and the few occasions I've undergone elective surgery, my need for my knees to be bent is written clearly in my care plan.

Bunging a pillow under your knees if you can't sleep in any other position than supine will help immensely.

Exactly this! I’ve tried with an ordinary pillow which does help to a degree just wondered if it was worth buying a proper one?

Ring the practice that gave you the leaflet and ask who they recommend.

I’m back on Friday will ask then but it’s always good to get opinions from people who use them.

Also getting deep tissue massage around the buttocks area releases a muscle called the periformis which will also help with lower back issues....

I have the couch and am qualified to use it lol.x

Yes I had very bad sciatica, but just used a normal pillow and it worked fine. If you sleep on your side put under your opposite knee.

Yes I did when I had some back pain last year. Sleeping on your back with your legs raised is a perfect sleeping position for back pain.
