I know a lot of foreigners can speak English as it is the first or second language spoken in most countries throughout the world, but what music do you like that is sung in a native language?
I'll start you off with this, which I found by chance earlier
Noir Désir - Le Vent Nous Portera

Duffy's (who I don't normally like) version of Desearía (Spanish Version Of Antony And The Johnsons' Song "Hope There's Someone") from the soundtrack of the Welsh film Patagonia

Ah, fair point. I just saw the OP mention “foreign” and didn’t see the mention of native languages below.
All together now...”Mae Hen.......” |

There and to the left a bit |
I bought an album by a Romanian Gypsy brass band called Fanfare Ciocarlia after Madness used one of their songs as their "coming on stage" music years ago and give it a listen every now and then.
Other than that Debbie Harry singing part of Sunday Girl and other songs in French always stirred me (well part of me ) as a teenager!! |

Spanish, I'm not bilingual, but I can get by, so as well as the nice sounds the Spanish language has. I can also understand it a bit. Though not a massive fan of the Span-pop discoteque type songs that make it over here. More Reggae, Reggeaton, Dancehall, Hip Hop and Rock.
I like hip hop in most languages, even if I don't understand it, provided the beat and rythem of the words link up. |

"Anything by The Cocteau Twins, though that could well be an alien language. "
I didn’t realise until quite recently that pretty much all their songs do actually have lyrics. I think, at least.
Christine and the Queens might be a bit obvious just now.
Tracks like Chaleur Humaine and La Marcheuse are gorgeous. |

I once read that while they wanted a voice on their recordings they couldn't be arsed with lyrics so decided to sing in a made up language instead. I don't know if this is true but it's genius either way. |
