Be they books, movies or programmes. Do you enjoy them and if so do you prefer them to be historically accurate or are you happy with artistic licence being used to make them more exciting? |

"I don't do period dramas, I find them a little too boring if I'm honest. Ma ex on the other hand, used to love them. "
I'm not just talking about period dramas. I'm watching The Last Kingdom on Netflix and, while it's no Vikings, it's still very good. I just think it's important that such things are properly researched to give as accurate a view as possible to a particular piece of history. |

I particularly like the Tudors and have read many books and watched a lot of documentaries. They are always factual. When I've watched dramas or films, they are sometimes a bit 'hollywood' but it probably makes them more entertaining |

Historical dramas are very good it helps with understanding our past, how we got to where we are but it frustrates the hell out of me when it's portrayed inaccurately and they bring in caracters in the wrong time frame ..however I live a good historical dramas |

There and to the left a bit |
It depends on the subject matter whether I enjoy them generally or not - preference is for accuracy as far as possible, although do understand why artistic licence is used to make a film or TV show more interesting, but where it alters the actual event drastically it can detract from the enjoyment somewhat.
That said one of my favourite historical films ever, Zulu, is littered with inaccuracies and artistic licence being used.
Bohemian Rhapsody is another example of a film that has several timeline inaccuracies but still works as an overall film. |
