It's a very confusing feature as there are multiple uses for it.
Not everyone uses it for, what I assume, its intended purpose of showing interest and inviting a message to start. |

When people moan (including me) about one line messages e.g how r u ? I’d prefer a wink as if I’m interested I’ll wink back or thank them in a message. It then stops the, why won’t someone answer my message when I send it etc...issues that some raise on these forums. |

A lazy way to say hi without actually having to write a message, shows interest. Probably more likely to be use by women/couples than men (at least used effectively), due to numbers. |
