Which is thought of - by the general public - as the worst thing?

Cheating or swinging?

Do you think one is less 'accepted' by society as a whole?

Why?

I would think cheating, just because it can effect anyone at anytime, is very personal and painful ... with wide sweeping life changing results

Cheating I would imagine as it's deceitful.

A fair few 'vanillas' I've spoken to find it difficult to separate swinging and cheating or class swinging as 'cheating with consent'!

Cheating.. but then a lot of folk on here are married or ‘attached’ with secret profiles.. sites like this make cheating easier.. fair play to those that admit to being married, you have the choice then whether to go there or not then x

Cheating is cheating OP, it’s lying and betrayal of someone who cares about you.

Swinging should be a person sexually expressing themselves, however that is not always the case is it

But what does society see as 'worse'? Or are they both seen as equally 'bad'?

It is. Define swinging where everyone agrees with it. Lots of singles swing. Do couples believe that’s swinging or nsa?

Whichever scenario requires you to not be truthful is probably the one you think is worse.

There's lots of different definitions of cheating too.

The general public probably think of swinging far less than the swinging community likes to think, so I wouldn't say they care

Oh cheating defo.

My mate got caught swinging as got a lady at his place whilst mrs at work.

Mrs came home early due to headache.

He got caught and didn’t break up as she said she wants be a swinger too.

She would select gangbang nights and have up to 12 men fuck her twice a week. 100 within a month

My mate got jealous and broke up with her.

She got her own back.

Manchester (he/him)

I think that an awful lot of people consider swinging to be cheating or dressed up as cheating, just because the other partner knows it's still sex outside of marriage and make the moral judgement in the same way.

Having said that though, swinging is often seen as a bit of a joke and a curio whereas cheating is deception and destruction of trust to most.

I would say society would see somebody cheating as a bad deceitful person where as I don’t think the would see a swinger as bad more like filthy (in a naughty way) lol

To extend the thought

When cheating who is usually considered the villain

The seducer or the wife

The seductress or the husband

The unaware party as they should have put more effort in ?

I would go against the concensus here, not from a personal view, but because of the prevalence of infidelity.

Smaller slice of society swing. Hell of a lot cheat. Sadly.

So therefore swinging must be the more abhorrent to the general public.

I'd say this... but cheating is to cause hurt .. swinging isn't.

I don't really have friends outside the lifestyle so don't really know. And to most of them cheating is awful.

The single person is usually blamed. It's the attached person's fault.

I like the direct simplicity of your answer

I dont entirely agree with the answer

I understand why the single is blamed they can be powerful calculated seducers

I disagree. I think most people take the view that what consenting adults get up to in private is up to them and no one else's business.

Deceiving your partner, however, about something very important to them is almost universally vilified.

I agree that the moral balance would dictate that, quite common sense really. Different levels of immorality maybe. So on an individual basis, with thought, most people would think that way. Infidelity can have such collateral damage.

However, the numbers don’t equate to that. More broken hearts in the world than joy in shared dalliances. Paradoxes everywhere in life.

It’s never a good idea to take society’s prevailing view as your own moral compass.

I think both are abhorred but swinging is seen as seedy and looked down upon.

In my husband's family the men all cheated and it was accepted.

..

I’m going to say swinging.

Cheating is something that is more prevalent, therefore more widely seen and probably touches more lives. It’s almost the ‘norm’ that doesn’t shock.

Swinging on the other hand, is still seen as something ‘disgusting’ as well as morally wrong by some corners of society.

I don't think swinging is seen as disgusting or morally wrong by most people. You see that from the tone of TV programmes about swinging. You generally get a tone of amused tolerance "look at what those funny people are doing". Compare that to how cheaters are generally dealt with.

Cheating

It's something that touches large amounts of the population

Swinging is seen as a bit of a amusing novelty

There are some that think it's repulsive, but most people are at least intrigued enough to talk about it in OMG way

Cheating on the other hand, backs are generally up straight away
