I’m going to lose a stone challenge x

So a busy run up to Christmas x hectic festive period x and Scottish new year has caught up
On me x
Late nights x boozing x fast food x take outs and good living has all taken it’s toll x
But I’m feeling positive x
I’m going to eat less x drink less x and move more x
My first target is to go out for walks and get off the sofa x
Don’t drink in the house during the week x
Drink water at work x
Cook rather than heat up my tea x
I’m targeting a 5k Park run x
I need to banish my bloating and reclaim that notch on my belt buckle x
I’m not getting hung up on numbers or target Wright’s of weekly lbs weight loss to start with x
I just want to feel healthier x
I’m hoping that with these small changes and staying positive I can shift a Stone by the end of Feb
I am starting the 30 day sit up challenge do il report back any positive effects x
So join me on a quest that suits your lifestyle and please report your results x

You can do it!
I'm continuing the goal of being the best version of myself that I can. I'm in the gym 3-4 times a week and on a strict diet. I'm not so bothered about weight loss (I could stand to, but it's not the goal), more about being fit and strong. After suffering a serious injury last year, I'm determined not to take my body for granted anymore. Getting close to a year on, there's still things I haven't recovered the ability to do. |

Looking to get a bit fitter in preparation for a charity walk for a local Preston hospice from Preston to Blackpool.
Did my first 4 mile today in just an hour.
I'm expecting to lose a few pounds in the process too. All good all round. |

What would you call a fast walk? Google maps calculates at about 3 mph.
I was quite pleased today that I could maintain 4 mph like I used to do nearly 50 years ago. |

I’ve lost 43 pounds from August to December. Think I’ve put on about 10 over Xmas.
I’ll kick start again on Saturday with 3 day water fast. It’s easier than people think. Then back to one meal a day, chicken and veg, no spuds, no bread. Occasional brown rice.
1 hour slow cardio before any food.
Then back to normal eating and exercise when goal target reached. |

Just did it through healthy eating before, but concentrating equally on gym time now, mostly resistance/weights rather than cardio, although always do a cardio warm-up to start for ten mins. The hardest part for me is gauging how well you’re doing when you’re building muscle, as I’ve been a slave to the scales since I was about 11yrs old!

Sounds amazing
Since my operation in June I’ve put on about 1.5 st creeped on due to lack of mobility and stuff.
So now new year, new knee haha and back work today already started 2019 good been set a squat challenge by my physio guy an girl to do 30 a day so far hit it.
Back on SlimmingWorld diet since new yr eve and hopefully get back to loosing weight
Wana get back down to weight was before knee injury so back to loosing 4.5 st

This is interesting! One of the PTs at my gym only eats one meal a day (2500 calories in one go!). What time do you take your meal and do you pack a lot of calories into it? Any snacks during the day? |

Just coffee with fake sugar or Diet Coke. Water mainly. Meal is evening time |

Well you can tell if you getting stronger by ability to increase weights. Capilpers can be bought to measure fat or simply tape measure for the biceps, etc.
Scales ok for a certain time but muscle is denser then fat, so clothed size and tape measure better |

Well you can tell if you getting stronger by ability to increase weights. Capilpers can be bought to measure fat or simply tape measure for the biceps, etc.

Wow! I'm just getting back into the gym this year so reading closely threads like this to get a sense of how often I need to go and what I need to do. Got that you go 3-4 times a week, another lovely lady told me she goes up to 6 times a week. I need to figure out what's realistically achievable for me

I have tried everything under the sun. I play a lot of sport but just can’t stop indulging myself so the weight never disappeared. Something that has worked for me though is 100 excercises a day. Wether it’s sit ups -push ups-star jumps I just make sure I do 100 and I’ve lost weight faster than ever |

Before I found weight lifting I struggled in the gym. I love weight lifting and so am happy to do the other stuff to help with lifting, lol.

At last Slimming World weigh-in on 10th Dec, I'd lost 17lb and had 24lb to go (12st target). Dropped 4 inches around the waist and can get back into slimmer clothes again (suits etc).
But... somehow gained 8 frikkin pounds over xmas, so have to pick up the pace a bit.
Started with 100 x 10kg weight lifts, 15 mins rowing machine (max setting) then a 4.5 mile brisk walk.
Probably only the equivalent of a mince pie, though

You basically "fast" ( do not consume any calories or very restricted amount of calories) during a set period of time. So it could be alternate days or you fast from 6pm in the evening (or whenever your evening meal is) until 2pm the next day for example.
The 5:2 diet which was talked about so much a few years ago is basically a version of this. Loads of info on YouTube about it. Look at Dr Jason Fung on YouTube. It basically mimics how we used to eat in evolutionary terms when we were being chased by sabre toothed tigers and couldn't order a Chinese when we had the munchies. |

This is what I'm trying to get back to. Got into the habit of nibbling at work from lunchtime until my evening meal when I'm home. Feel so much more energetic and refreshed when I just wait until I get home and have the proper meal. |

Get a calorie tracking app... as long as you input everything you eat then you can’t go wrong, you will quickly figure out what you can and can’t have... or what to limit in proportions.
I have learn to make healthy low-calorie meals so I can afford to have a couple of treats so I don’t quit lol |

I’m going to do dry February cos I’ve already drink too much to call it dry January!
Heard it somewhere that if you do a four week total break you tend to drink less when you start drinking again.

I lost 12kg in 3 months. Just stopped eating chocolate, cake, sugary treats. Carried on being active, I walk everywhere as I don't drive. Drink water all day as well as herbal/fruit teas - I do this all my life so no change here.
During Xmas I ate all naughty stuff, but kept on being active. Only put on 1 kg. Now that's gone and I will carry on being good

Thought you weren't doing numbers ?
If you lose one pound per week and weight yourself next year you will be 4 stones lighter.
Being healthy is what matters cos over the year you should gain muscle. So think about how you feel and what FUEL you put into your body- not how much you weigh. |

Yes this for me too.
I'm simply going to eat and drink less.
I normally do around 15000 steps a day and I cycle to and from work.
( 12 mins )
Lots of water, healthier choices, smaller portions - and try to keep around 1500 cals a day.
I'm not going to commit to dry January- but definitely less booze

I’m starting on Monday with Slimming World. This way of eating for me works well. I don’t want to loose weight necessarily- I want to be toned, fitter, healthier and be more confident in my own skin.
I’m going to get back into my running 2x a week and do some more organised 10ks. |

I’ve got a big op coming up & it’s playing on my mind. Currently my medication is hindering weight loss but this will not be needed after the op.
My mental health is my focus at the moment but I do follow SW & any weight loss is a bonus. I also started doing C25K with a group with the aim of completing a park run. Although I read today you can walk it & take your dog so might try that to start with.

Make that 9.7lbs..
And I’ve mostly just cut calories... I’ve been using a calorie counting app.. there are loads of different ones but most are pretty good.
I just put everything I eat into the app and it works it all out for me.. the main thing I do I make healthy low calorie meals for my main food (and I skip breakfast) so 9 times out of 10 I only have 2 meals a day. My normal meals are under 400 calories, for a treat I will make them up to 600/700 calories. Then I will have a couple of treat I.e a bag of crisps and a couple of biscuits... I just make sure they are counted in the calories and it still leaves me with a deficit.
I’ve been a bit lazy with the exercise this month... but going to be going back to the gym after next week.
If anybody want more advice on what I do then pm me. I lost 2 stone this way last year... due to having an operation I put it all back on but I’m gonna keep it off this time |

I recommend highly against attempting a 5 k run
Allow me to suggest not attempting but absolutely nailing a 2.5 returing wanting more x

I've lost 2lb since my last post, I wouldn't say I've been perfect in sticking to my plan. But today I'm going to work on my bike (as it's dry!)
Still eating off small plates though.

I swear by cauliflower rice when I’m looking to lose weight.
I have it with everything, curries, chilli con carne, make stir fries out of it.
It’s my potato substitute.
Breakfast I have turkey bacon with 3 scrambled egg whites 1 while egg, skimmed milk.
Swap normal tea/coffee for fruit teas, drink only water with slices of lemon in.
Then it’s plenty of weights.
Leg press, hack squats, sumo squats, plyometric squats, seated leg curls, lying leg curls.
If you exercise the biggest muscles in your body, legs and back they’ll burn calories for you even when you’re sitting on your arse afterwards. |

I'm in. I want to lose 2 stone by end of May.
My aim is to move more in the form of walking.
Although I have an active job, over the last 18 months I have steadily gained. I was grieving for my father and I had a relationship breakdown as well, using food and drink for comfort.
I have cut the drinking almost out but I replaced it with food. I now need to replace that with something else!
So I am cutting the snacking in the evenings and sticking to a small healthy meal in the evenings.
Stating it here should help with motivation, I don't like slimming clubs- they are full of fat people who never seem to succeed! |

I'm not sticking to dry January but I'm making small changes.
Instead of having toast or bagels for breakfast I'm having porridge when I get to work.
That helps me to stop snacking until lunch.
I'm trying not to eat the cakes, biscuits etc that are EVERYWHERE in the building
I'm usually OK until the evening - that's when the picking starts instead of dinner.
And the wine - I need the wine
I cycle to work ( 12 mins each way ) and usually do around 15000 steps a day so hopefully that's doing something! |

Just popping in to report I’ve lost 6lb. To be honest I haven’t been terribly dedicated other than less snacking, no alcohol (last day of dry Jan!) and lots more walking. I invested in a fit bit and I’m averaging 70km a week despite a very sedentary full time job. Time to ramp things up and put a bit more effort in I think |

My recipe for success, well cut out sugar, there is nothing in sugar that does you any good at all, I've lost five stone now and am no longer diabetic. Success is down to will power, if you fancy something sweet, eat grapes, not cake lol, leave out to many carbs, as carbs turn to sugar. Eat loads of fruit and veg, I eat a whole broccoli every day, eat fish, and white meat. Wholemeal bread, and drink loads of water. I could go on and on but won't bore you all lol. |

Not sure if it helps but we both joined Slimming world over a year ago and both lost 5 stone. It isn't a diet, it is a lifestyle change. Whatever you do to lose weight All the best of luck in the world, You can and will do it. |

Upping your intake of water will definitely help, aim for 2 litres a day. |

Well done to all on their weight loss.
I'm on a body composition change rather than purr weight loss at the moment.
But I have lost 4kg in 3 weeks.
Strict dieting and hard training.
I reckon another kilo of fat loss.. but I want to be 5-7kg heavier by the end of the year in lean weight. |
