When callum was little one of the toy shops you could pay in so much a week then come christmas all the toys paid for. Have you thought about buying a gift voucher every month for different places then cash them in at christmas |

Why not. Throw in a sausage stew and you're set for winter. |

No. I can give it to my brother to look after. He's loaded and I know it will be safe with him. |

"Use the tins you have to cut open "
I'd cut them open, no qualms. It's not me that spends my savings, it's my middle child. If it's not in my bank I can say, honestly, that I don't have it. |

I do this through a thrift club at work. Have doubled my payments this year as I'm hoping to go on a cruise with my mum in 2020 so want some spending money. |

"Saving for next year's tax bill just paid this years, it hurt a lot!"
That's not really saving though. It's putting away the tax you owe instead of spending it |

I wouldn't mind a holiday but I can't save for both as I pay for my daughter and her kids too. |

Don't need to save really as we are fortunate enough not to have to. And we buy many Xmas presents in the January sales. Bought about 20 people's presents for next year already. Saved a fortune in the sales. Then we save the main family presents until November. We let them choose what they want then buy them extra surprises. |

"if you smoke , save by stopping .......
there about a tenner a pack.......
one pack a day equals £3650 a year "
Or, spend £1000 on a holiday in Spain, or Slovenia, spend £1000 on 365 packs, and save £1650 for Christmass unless we get a no deal brexit and crash out in March. |

I do try, a good accountant would probably help a lot, but then I would give money to the accountant instead of the tax man |
