Hi

thanks

"admin and call centre"

There are certain questions that come up at most interviews -

Tell me about when you delivered excellent customer service.

Explain what you did when things didnt go according to plan.

How does good communication skills look like to you?

How do you work in a team?

Think of good answers for these as your back up plan. If you need to think about an answer take the opportunity to have a sip of water.

Relax and enjoy the experience. Always think about a good question to ask them at the end - career progression/development.

Good luck

Is now the right time to admit that when I’ve previously had competency based interviews I’ve often lied?

They are looking for you to give examples which fit a certain criteria and tick certain boxes. If you can think of a scenario, are able to give all the details and embellishments that they are looking for then all is good. It doesn’t HAVE to be true! They don’t check. It’s all about being convincing and showing them that you understand what they are looking and that you meet that.

I have used some examples which have really happened in my life, some which friends/family have talked about and also some completely made up. I have never failed to be offered a job following a competency based interview.

Situation - what was the required outcome?

Task - what were your specific duties either as part of a team or on your own.

Action - how did you carry out those duties.

Result - did you achieve the desired outcome? If not, why not and we're lessons learnt?

Dibt be afraid to talj about what you did. Stead clear of talking about what the team did etc. The team aren't the ones being interviewed.

I was just about to give this answer

When I interview for any staff I always used competency based questions

OP don’t stress because personalities shine through too often without you realising
