I'm on week 3 run 2, jog 90 secs, walk 90 secs, jog 3 mins, walk 3 mins twice but I was only half way round my route so I did roughly the same again, it would be nice to go back to the beginning, like on a loop. I’ve not ran at all in 2 years and would like to get to the point of running continuously even if it’s only for 5km, any advice welcome. I am planning on looking at the couch to 5km." "Parkrun is not a race. It's for running, jogging or walking. It's a good incentive to try and beat your personal best. And it's normally a very welcoming group. " Park run is many different things to many different runners. And that includes it being a race for some. When you get one if the country's finest 10000 metre runners turning up and running a sub 14 minute time it's impossible to say it's not a race

'even if it's only 5km'. She still often runs less than that, it still hurts but she can do it now. Small regular steps.... "Hello everyone. Happy New Year. If you have decided to start the New Year off with a fitness kick, then please feel free to join us here. We will motivate you, cajole you (and, in some cases just kick you into getting off the couch). We are seriously all abilities. And all here to help you. I believe last year MrsT used to write everyone's progress in the initial post, so if you'd like me to do that then please let me know. And please remember the parkrun social - you can walk it if you don't think you're up to that level yet. "Howdy all, I've started my fitness for the year with the aim of running as much in Jan as a I can and then keep it regular after that. I actually started on 28th Dec as I wanted to be in the habit before Jan started.. So far 3 days in and 3 runs completed. Each at just over 6k and getting quicker. Still some way off the pace I was at mid last year. Have signed up to my first 10k of the year in May and aim to be under 55 mins.. last year I completed it in 58 mins. " Are you running every day? If so, make sure you get your rest too, don't go too hard too soon!

Are you running every day? If so, make sure you get your rest too, don't go too hard too soon!" I'm not going to.say every day in Jan as I know things will get in the way... but I would hope to run at least 20 out of 31 days.

I agree with WD, especially as you appear to be upping your pace with each run, sounds like a stress injury waiting to happen if you're not very careful. Make sure you listen to your body, and consider backing off if you start to feel any niggles setting in, before they turn into anything serious. Kudos for your enthusiasm though! ![]()

"Lots of people I know have signed up for RED (run every day) in January. I did it one December, rubbing at keast a mile every day. Quite a few people I know have runstrwajscif over 300 days. The great Ron Hill ran every day until last year. You just have to listen to your body. " RED is good, but you also have to rest - There is a way that you can have 24 hours rest between runs and still run every day. I've known people who run regularly who have done RED and they've been knackered afterwards.

Sometimes I ran twice a day. I got my fastest mile time ever during that month.

Listen to your body x There is a saying 'in the head, go ahead. On the chest, get some rest' but to be honest I couldn't run today as I'm knackered from lack of sleep. Hope you feel better soon x

Then we'll meet for the best bit afterwards - cake ![]() Happy to try it out too .... Pretty sure I've set one up that allows you to not post location but post run details length Nd pace etc

"Went for my jog/walk today but the C25K app stopped every time I shut my phone! Extremely annoying as I started it 6 times throughout my run, I know I did my usual 4.5k but don't know if I ran enough or walked enough! Extremely annoying but I think I did enough. Need to figure out how to get it to run in the background ![]() Annoying when technology let's you down but well done on getting out there regardless! ![]()

"Hi, my little effort seems silly compared to all your goals! But today I walked 1.2km on the treadmill, 30 squats and 30 sit ups. Just been discharged from physio so taking it easy and building up slowly ![]() It doesn't matter how far, how long, how fast, the main thing is you have done it which is a lot more than others do well done!
