Not before January 6th.
Taking down your Christmas before the 12th night is very unlucky.
After that you’re perfectly entitled to chop up the tree and brown bin it. |

Can't leave it until then- January birthday for my daughter- Christmas is long gone by then, plus I am not superstitious |

Start with a 2 foot one or even a cutting and watch it grow over the years with your child |
