Due for an upgrade next week , which one should I go for?
I've a Blackberry at present and I think it's ace but everyone's saying get an I-Phone?
Should I give into peer pressure???

I've had a blackberry before... it was ok but kept crashing and taking about 5 mins to restart which I found very frustrating 
I've had an iPhone for 18 months and totally rate it.
....the only downside to it is the lack of being able to use flashplayer, but I'm still alive so it's not such a bad thing lol. |

I hear whats being said about the I phone and it does sound great - having said that I have been happy with my BB for over a year now. I guess a matter of preference? |

A recent survey of 3.5 million webpages showed that about 30-40% have at least some flash content - so the iPhone limits you in terms of what you can access on the web.
Basically Apple are terrified that if the iPhone can run flash, then you would be able to load and use Apps without going through their gravy train ..... errrr I mean through the app store and iTunes (or should that be reIchTunes?)

actually that's one of the very few areas where the iPhone scores over Android - the power management is much better so the battery life - while still not very good - is generally better than comparable Android phones.
However ......
The iPhone has an integrated battery which can't be changed or removed, whereas most android phones have a removeable battery, which, if you have an eBay account and around ten bright shiny english pounds, can be replaced for a high capacity battery which will triple it's battery life (and give you a spare) |

It's not a stupid question.
The answer is that a web browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox would use a flash player in order to allow you to play flash games, which are very popular online. |

Iphones break easier than BackBerries, my mate has had 9 Iphones since november while I have had 1 BlackBerry since October plus they have buttons aswell :D |

I had an iPhone for a while…. great for a while but when the novelty wore off I got bored of it.
Dont like typing on a touch screen, its like type three words, go back and correct 2 of them.
Try and send a message when there is no coverage, it fails.
Send an email and then the coverage drops, it fails.
Cant change from the loaded text message tones.
Cant change the ringtone unless you pay 99p from iTunes for one of theirs.
Now gone back to a Bold 9900, has a keyboard and touchscreen.
Can customise it much more than the iPhone, keyboard is a joy, and can use many keyboard shortcuts to get things done. Some good useful (not gimiky) apps to get the best from the phone.
Battery life is getting better with SW updates.
Its built for email and messaging so is good on that, will resend a message if/when coverage drops etc
iPhone insurance is 12.99 from your provider (as apple wont let them sell it any lower), other devices are much cheaper to insure.
Signal on my Bold is generally better than my wifes iPhone4s (even though thats better than the iPhone4 she had before it).
All data that the BB uses gets compressed and so doesnt use as much data as the iPhone. The iPhone 4s is reportedly using twice as much data as the iPhone 4 due to Siri.
Agree that androids are good too, but not without their own faults.

easy decision...judge them by the apps.
Blackberry...no useable apps
Ihone...over 400,000 apps majority free or just 69p.
we both had BB 9700 for the last year and a bit, couldnt wait to get rid of them. If it crashed it takes a lifetime to turn on, the screen is tiny and you couldnt open links or another page on the browser. You pay an extra £5 per month for this RIM internet connection which constantly crashes, most known for the two week in november (where is the £60 free apps they promised?)
Both switched to Iphone 4s. Free apps for making your own ringtones and alerts, apps for online shopping, online banking, Red can watch skysports football when hes away from home on it over a 3g signal, you can skype, use voice activation, watch HD videos,every big company has thier own apps ie football clubs, argos, skybet, mens health etc, the camera is Awesome, the picture editing apps are second to none and for guys you can even play that football manager game yous love so much. Theres endless amounts of class games, fun apps and the internet browser is just crystal clear, fast and free

We both have an android and find we like them much better then an iPhone and don't rate blackberry at all everyone we no that has had one hated it within the first month,
Would say that the iPhone touch pad is the best around but that's not to big of a deal xxx her |

Aye, got two spare batteries and a dock that charges both batteries plus the one in the phone at the same time.

I have just today got a iphone 4, did have uptill then the blackberry bold 9780, before that i had a torch, have to say even tho ive only had the iphone for one day it much prefer it already, blackberry keys are really small and i was forever back spacing when texting cause id hit 2 keys at once, plus the iphone screen is much bigger and better when your on the internet |

have you got that app that makes it look like your screens broke? ,my daughter got me with it the other day, she has the Galaxy S2 as well which i got her for xmas, she put the phone on the chair and i sat on it, got up and when i looked the sceen was broken, i thought f**k me what am i supposed to tell her, i paid £350 for the frigging thing 2 weeks ago and ive broke it, anyway i kinda sheepishly told her and she made a big fuss about it as i expected, then just as i could feel any worse she shook the phone and it went back to normal, she found it highly amusing, i could have killed the git lol |

Personally I like the Iphone. Because I have been typing for a long time as part of my job and have been suffering badly from pain in my hands, especially my right one and was struggling incredibly with using the buttons on my old Samsung, I was looking for something that didn't have buttons so the Iphone was perfect for me. The keys on a Blackberry were just too small especially with long nails.
The only issue I have had with mine is when Three blocked porn sites and I couldn't get on Fab.
Ultimately for me its perfect and I suspect I would have got on okay with any touch screen phone though |

Siri is the IPhone 4's built in voice interface system. You can ask it things like "Will it rain today?" and it will pull up the local forecast based on your GPS location and then asnwer you with something like "There is a 30% chance of rain in your area!

ive seen these high capacity battery's but was worried they might be dodgy/bad for the phone, are they ok?
i chose a samsung galaxy on my lat upgrade - LOVE IT! not keen on qwerty keyboards and got bored of the iphone interface after having an ipod touch for so long. |

I recommend the iPhone. It double up as a WiFi hotspot which is great if I'm out and about!
However, if you're considering an Android, I'd recommend the HTC Range. For me, they're the iPhone's direct rival. |

The Galaxy Android is the most popular phone by miles, outselling the others by Millions (what phone) but I adore my BB, you can get most of the Iphone apps without the cost, also has wifi same as Iphone |

They are fantastic - but not without a few minor shortcomings.
I bought one within a month of getting my htc desire which I've had for nearly 2 years (I got it on the day it was launched and didn't have to camp out over night or even queue ) - they have never caused me or the phone any problems.
However the £10 cheapies you get off eBay aren't fantastic quality - They aren't going to leak or explode, but after a few months of charging they begin to lose their capacity and get to the point where they aren't any better than the original - but hey, just shell out another tenner and get a fresh one, it's no big deal.
They are also twice as thick as the original so they do make the phone slightly thicker and heavier, but that's a small price to pay for the extra use you get from the phone, and they come with a replacement back cover to house the larger battery.
Mugen make a supposedly very good quality high-cap batteries - they are around £80 for most android phones

We have iPhones , love them, very simple to use.
Never understood why people get so uptight about apple v android, I just like the my phone, we FaceTime even when I'm working in Europe it's great and on the I pad too.
If you prefer the look of another phone, buy that instead.

Adobe have stopped the development of Flash for mobile devices. Flash is regarded as buggy and causes system crashes. Also there is a tremendous overhead. HTML5 is the future and eventually Flash will disappear.
I have had an iPhone for many years and the lack of Flash has not been a problem for me. I also had a Blackberry Bold through work and I hated it. If you buy into the whole Apple experience then you will not be disappointed. Prior to my Blackberry I had a Windows mobile phone/PDA and that was even worse.
Android V iPhone is very similar to the Windows V OSX(Mac) debate. I have an IT background and have used many programming languages so for me the Windows interface is not a technical problem it is just so irritating. OSX is far slicker and so intuitive. Apple have developed IOS/5 for the iPhone using the same principles as their desktop operating system.
Apologies for rabbiting on but my recommendation is get the iPhone, you won't regret it. |

This is a total red herring - don't fall for it.
Apple fans have been harping on about how html 5 will be the answer to the iPhone's lack of flash support ever since it became apparent that this feature was not just something that was in development for the early iPhones but part if a deliberate strategy by Apple - that was about 3 years ago.
Three years down the line html 5 is not only still NOT the defacto web development standard, but it still hasn't even been released yet.
So if your concern is what you can access now and not in the 5 years or so its going to take to replace allthe old code. with html 5 - then you really can forget about that as an argument .
furthermore you need to consider why apple refused to support flash in the fist place - the did it because it potentially cuts out the app store as apps can be delivered VIA a web page or downloaded independently to a single flash player application.
if html 5 can replicate this functionality then apple aren't going to support that either |

Iphone for me....had no problems with it and had for 16 mnths, does everything I want: make calls, receive calls,text, listen to my music, perv on fab while at work, loads of cool free apps - must make me a sheep baaaaaa!! Prefer that than small mans syndrome! Know your phone isn't as good so have to bad mouth the better one all the time |

You've hit the nail on the head as to why I won't buy Apple kit.
I am on my fifth HTC phone now - have had Nokia's as well, but keep coming back to HTC. I want my music, on my home server, to be portable to any device I choose to use, and from any format I buy. Apple won't promise that.
My next possible purchase will be a 7inch tablet to use as an email client and media source while out and about - there are loads of Android options I can pair with my phone, most of them less than half the price of Apple kit.

Clearly you hate Apple with a passion, which is your right. However the reality is that most websites don't use Flash to the extent that renders them unusable and most people wouldn't notice and wouldn't care.
However the thing is that Flash is widely acknowledged to be buggy, clunky, and not fit for the job it's being used for. This is the reason Adobe is ditching it. People have been very creative and clever in expanding the use of Flash but it had been clear for many years it wasn't the right tool for the job, and so a move away from it is long overdue.
You're overstating the shortcomings of flash to backwards-rationalise your choice of a platform that won't support it - look up the term cognitive dissonance some time.
But that's besides the point - the point you're missing ie that lack of flash support is a symptom, not the disease.
The disease is Apple's absolute need to control everything you do with your phone in order for them to squeeze every possible penny out of you in the process.
You wouldn't buy a car that will only run on certain roads and can only accept petrol from a single chain of petrol stations which charge a premium price as a result - so why settle for that with a phone? "

You make quite a few assumptions from my previous comments but it may be that I had failed to clearly state the views about Flash were those of others I have spoken to, read, and listened to.
Also I had said nothing about support of Flash I had simply passed on other peoples' experiences. You can support a particular platform and still have many misgivings about it.
Now that's "cognitive dissonance"!
Oh and just one last thing there are many heavy vehicles that are restricted to certain roads, and when was the last time you tried to put diesel in your petrol driven car? Some things are there for a reason and may not always be obvious. The important thing is that you are sure about your choice, which you are free to make, and it may just be that others are sure in theirs. |

goto the shop and test the phones out see which you prefer i did read somewhere that the iphone can play flash through a 3rd party browser and is available from the app store in itunes but can't remeber its name sorry

I own a bb.
Things I like about it are;-
Email.
bbm.
battery life.
Things I don't like;-
Internet connection.
Keys too small.
Screen too small.
With the bb or i-phone I can find apps to manage the tasks I am doing easily if I don't have them loaded already.
I'm only comparing it with an i-phone btw, as I haven't yet tried the Android, Galaxy or HTC.
So your decision is mostly down to what you will use the phone for most.

For me it has to be Android all the way - however there are pros and cons for pretty much all options. If it really was so bad, it wouldn't sell and therefore wouldn't be on the market.
iPhone - as everyone has already said, makes you look a sheep, ties you to apple stuff, but is very well designed (if not engineered).
Android - loads of choice on how much you pay for a handset (which relates to what it can do obviously). The only reason not to go Android is if you prefer iPhones really!
Blackberry - RIM is losing market share like you wouldn't believe (mainly due to Android and iOS devices) so I wouldn't get one if you plan on remaining with them for a long time. The apps aren't nearly as numerous but they do have BBM (if you have friends on BB's) and they're rather good for business people.
Microsoft WinPho7 - a new version of the original phone OS. Seems to be MUCH better than their previous offering. integrates with Live accounts and hence xboxs. Apps are growing every day but still not widely available when there are versions for Android or iOS.
The other upside of Android and WinPho7 is that you have a huge choice of devices to use them on.
Get down to a phone shop and play with them. Oh, and Siri isn't all that. Look past it, it's a party gimmick.

They are fantastic - but not without a few minor shortcomings.
I bought one within a month of getting my htc desire which I've had for nearly 2 years (I got it on the day it was launched and didn't have to camp out over night or even queue ) - they have never caused me or the phone any problems.
However the £10 cheapies you get off eBay aren't fantastic quality - They aren't going to leak or explode, but after a few months of charging they begin to lose their capacity and get to the point where they aren't any better than the original - but hey, just shell out another tenner and get a fresh one, it's no big deal.
They are also twice as thick as the original so they do make the phone slightly thicker and heavier, but that's a small price to pay for the extra use you get from the phone, and they come with a replacement back cover to house the larger battery.
Mugen make a supposedly very good quality high-cap batteries - they are around £80 for most android phones
