2 walkers said they saw a real-life cougar, in broad daylight, walking through the countryside near Stroud, Gloucestershire.

I like cougars but I thought they didn't exist in the UK not judging by this site.

Plenty around, even if the term isn't used so frequently as self-description

I’ve 100% definitely seen a big cat in the wild in the woods at Burnham Beeches, a few years ago now. So I actually don’t doubt it at all OP.

The Land that time forgot (Norfolk)

My mum's seen a big cat in the wild in Norfolk, came pretty much face to face with it while walking her dogs. She disturbed it as it was killing a pheasant.

If anyone else told me I would have doubted them but I know she would never make up something like that. Went and told the police and they weren't interested.

P.O. Box DE1 0NQ

There are quite a few in the wild, some have escaped from Zoos and others from Wildlife Parks, they all need attention though and placing back into environments more suited to their needs

Got to love a cougar. I like to watch them mostly devouring younger prey 1/2 their age & preferably 2 or 3 at a time.

There have been a few sightings around Stroud over the years. Big cats too...

I genuinely thought they don’t live here so was shocked when heard the news

There have been sightings round here guess there’s plenty of hiding places on the South Downs.
