I wish shops played his song Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis rather than the usual stuff in the (far too long) run-up to Christmas.

Iit is genuinely beautiful.

My musical hero.

Saw him in Paris on the Glitter and Doom tour - one thing off the bucket list.

Very jealous.

I’m pretty jealous of that beard too, tbh

I have all his albums.

One of my favourite artists. And I'm glad he doesn't allow his music to be used in commercials

"I hope that I don't fall in love with you"

One of the most heartfelt 'love songs' you'll ever hear....

“Hot Wife in France” sounds like a track off one of his albums

I just hope there's another tour left in him and you get the chance to see him.

It all started with a cassette of Frank's Wild Years from the 99p bin in Woolworths in the 80s. The beginning of a lifelong romance.

The beard, on the other hand, is a passing affair!

Heartattack and Vine was used in a Levi's ad (Screaming Jay Hawkins version) but, yes, his integrity in that respect is admirable.

Tickets would be insanely hard to get.

I got introduced to him through Nighthawks at the Diner and some Whistle Test footage around the same time.

Never fails to bring musical joy.

Keep the beard - it’s a winner!

Great songs. Do you do faithful covers, or re-imagine them?

They are slightly customised because both of us sing differently to Tom Waites and we use more guitars in it. But we don’t reinvent them.

I’ve listened to Tom a few times in the intervening period. He’s marvellous.
