I always remember a Christmas present from an Auntie
I was (and still am) thrilled by aeroplanes
My Auntie bought me a big Airfix model. It was about 12 inches long when made up
It was unboxed and assembled before Mum even stirred
I applied the decals and left it on the hearth to dry off, then ran upstairs to get Mum up and drag her downstairs to see what I'd made
I was proper chuffed with myself
Thing is, when we got back downstairs, what I'd made was a huge mound of bubbling molten plastic
Yes, I'd left it too close to the fire and it had melted all over the hearth and dripped down onto the carpet
I was distraught and to say Mum was unimpressed was an understatement |

Sindy horse, with the stable and car.
A jewellery box my uncle gave me, he'd also popped a bracelet inside, along with a necklace
That was my first 'grown up' present. |
