Three & a half years single, here. Acceptance took a long time coming but it has been made easier, thanks to all the new friends I've made.

Still feels a bit rubbish, when xmas is shoved in your face though. I went out alone earlier, to have fun but everywhere was closed

I get to spend the day with my (older) kids. But I would be the first to say that the run up to Christmas, the constant adverts with `perfect' families, the people moaning about how busy they are and how hard it is to fit everything in had left me feeling very down. I lost my job at the start of the month too - got a new one to go to, but you just feel miserable. I'm not envious of what others have, and I know how hard it can be having people underfoot all the time, when all you want to do is snooze or read a book, but I do feel sad that I am not where I should be in life. The commercialism, greed and insensitivity of the season can get you down. Hugs to fellow `not having lots of chocolate box family' Fabbers xx

I know exactly what you mean, being told how you 'should' be and the constant impression that if you don't spend lots, eat a huge amount or have the perfect family, that you're doing something wrong.

Stuff them!

Don't let anyone else tell you how to be or how you should be.

I'm on my own now and will be tomorrow too, I spent a lot of time feeling crappy in the run up but realised its because there's so much pressure to how Christmas should look. Once I let go of that and worked out what I wanted I relaxed a lot more

Think it's just hit me that I don't actually want to be on my own tomorrow. Sat in tears like an idiot.

My daughter and my parents both separately told me they didn't want me there for Christmas.

Ah well. More turkey for me and the ratties I guess.

I think this might be my 8th Xmas alone. Bath, new Xmas pj's, open the fizz and prepare a full traditional dinner for one, open my pressies, ring my family and say my thank you's, watch a bit of telly, cook and eat my dinner, fall asleep on the sofa...the end

Yes, third time this year. Not without offers from family and friends but still feel like I'm imposing as I never spent it with them while with my ex.

But make it special. Make a good meal. Put the effort. Watch TV with upbeat programs. Get the Bailey's out early. Haha.. It helps.

On my own this year due to being poorly. Thoroughly enjoying being able to watch what I want on the box. Had such a great run up to Christmas that I don't feel bad about being on my own today. Just a shame I won't get to see my family.
