Presumably your trying to connect your pc/laptop to an Flat Pannel TV
Best first guess - from the infor supplied is that your screen resolution is too high (or to low) for the TV to display.
Are you also connecting the PC to the PC input on the back of the TV (by the 15 pin DSub connector) or are you trying to connect the PC to the TV by say Scart connector?

Try setting your screen resolution on your PC/Laptop to 1024x768 and screen refresh at 50Hz.
If that displays, increase the screen res slider till you get to max resultion, which could be up to about 1920x1080 |

Is it a PC or a laptop?
If the latter, there are often buttons to flip between laptop screen and TV display modes.
Another option is see if there are any VGA lead drivers for that model of TV that you can install on the PC |
