"I so want to see this film.......
deeply moving I bet."
My mum went to see the stage show and sobbed her heart out... 1 million horses were lost in WW1. I would like to see it but no one wants to go with me so I guess it waiting until it comes out on DVD or dragging someone off here to see it... haha |

Just read the re_iews from last night and not that good. Seems better going to play than film. Pity Mr S couldn't resist the Hollywood treatment of an interesting story |

How many more gee gees would we have in the world if 1m of them didn't perish in WW1? Oscar Schindler saved 1,200 Jews in WW2 of which there are approx 7,000 descendants alive today.
1m horses at the turn of the last century would have spawned somewhere in the region of 10m horses alive today. Way too many for Europe to cope with.
Sad though. Horses are nice. Will wait for the film on Sky. |

I'm always bawling my eyes out at animals dying in films. Don't think I've ever got over Bambi's mum being shot. With my love of horses it will only be worse but I still want to see it. I'll bring the box of kleenex View - for the tears before anyone comments otherwise!!!! |

Not sure anyone would be willing to go with me to see war horse for the same reason |

Anyone been to see it? What did you think? My friend went on Friday. Said was WAY too long at nearly 3 hours, contrived, not enough time spent on the human characters so felt really disjointed and only one person shed a tear. No-one else gave a hoot |

As a horse owner and lover i'll have to go see this film. Afew of my horsey pal's have said, great scenes, beautiful horses but the storyline is not entirtely the same as the book. I'am not a big reader so will go enjoy |

It's ok I suppose. I wouldn't call it a tear jerker although there probably are some equestrians that would get a little upset in parts. It'll probably win something no doubt but I honestly didn't think it was anything to write home about |

"My friends who went are all horse owners and only one had a tear in their eye. It just didn't seem to engage them"
yea I can imagine why. I wasn't surprised that it didn't thrill me. After all it's a film where the main character is a horse There cant be that much to it.
It's also a little far fetched a bit like lassi at times. As though the horse is a highly intelligent one and puts itself out to look after it's friends. For those that have seen it a prime example was when it runs in to pull the artillery gun
Like I said no doubt it'll win something at the oscars cause I thought Hurt locker was pretty crap too |

"I don't get all this crying over animals. Animals aren't pets, they're livestock. "
Even living on a farm most of my life I still shed a tear for the ones we slaughtered - even when it was still ok to do it on the farm. Afterall they were being killed so we could eat and every life is worth something I think. |

My mum said that her mum used to bottle feed the lambs on the farm, and when they took them away she used to cry, after all, they are just like human babies, you feel protective of them. |
