Suddenly after only finding out he had adder cancer a mouth ago..past away today aged 77

Really liked him. His military background made him incredibly disciplined as a leader and that wasn’t to everyone’s taste of course - but he truly was a liberal and was one of the very few from that party in recent history to engage with the public on a broad level

It is always sad when anyone dies ... Worse at this time of year.

He seemed a decent chap, but I always chuckle when I remember the tabloid headline back in the day
