Before we are all meant to get festive and jolly does anyone wish to vent about a meet?
I had one today. Turned up and left within 3 mins. The person greeted me and had made minimal effort. Their house was a dive. Nice outdoors, not inside. The phrase mind the mess was uttered and that's forgivable this time of year, but then mind the cat litter was uttered, I braced and thought, okay give the benefit of the doubt, got to the second floor and the smell of cig smoke and stale ash hit me.
At that point I'm pretty sure I smelt cat poop.
I just point blank told the lady I was not comfortable being in a house which smelt of cigs so much, asked to leave and stood in cat tish on the way out.
Was I rude? And if so was it deserved? |

Wow! That sounds horrible! That's not even not being house proud... That just sounds disgusting. If you know your having company at least clean up a bit! We just keep encountering fakes or time wasters ourselves just got to keep on hoping haha! |

"Blimey!! That's horrible, We go OCD with cleaning if anyone comes here!!"
I know, asked to move a meet back a day once cause work was hectic and the house felt like a tip. Luckily the woman involved understood and said she was happy to wait an hour or two so I could get the house presentable. |

"Manky
If someone can't keep their home clean then I question their personal hygiene "
Yeah that was went through my head. I don't like to be judgy but you cannot help in a house like that but think, "is the person sexually and hygienically speaking, clean?" |

"Did her profile say she was a smoker ?"
Nope.
I'm not against meeting smokers. But I thought it was convention not to leave stale ash around a house. |

I’ve had meetings like that, the worst was a guy said he could accom & was a non smoker, but it turned out he rented a room above a pub & smoked like a chimney & both he & his room stank of old fags.
I turned round & left pretty sharpish |

Yeah, I mean to say you can host but mean only in a rented room is a annoyance but forgivable, but something like smoking isn't. It's the kind of thing you declare. |

That's like me. And I still apologise for the mess as though my house is usually even more pristine "
I apologised once when hosting and the lady politely told me that if her house was this tidy she'd love it - apparently kids ruin everything? :p |
