So apparently there porn sites will require proof of age from April before people can gain access?
https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/8023302/porn-websites-proof-of-age-april/
Will Fab be part of this? or are we a lifestyle site? Or dating (of sorts) site? |

Wouldn't be a bad thing.
The number of new profiles that only last a few days could probably be statistically linked to school holidays I suspect...

I think it would stop an awful lot of fake profiles.
But unless you have full site access your not able to see full graphic content. So lots of non site supporters jacking off over boobs.
Much like the old ten minute free view on the old sky channels like babestation. |

Maybe go and do a basic check on the Digital Economy Act 2017 before you dismiss it out of hand. |

Not a chance I'd do that. |

Exactly. Or does this mean Brexit isn’t happening either, as I’m sure I once saw a headline in the Sun about it? |

Pretty sure most age verification sites rely on credit card information rather than passport/driving licence.
A simple pre authorization to show an active card (as you obviously have to be 18). No details held. So no risk.

"This site aside, would you really be happy scanning your drivers licence to the likes of Pornhub and Xhamster? I sure as hell won't be."
Again, maybe go and do some basic checks on how it will work before commenting. There will be third-party age-verification services. Yes, the company that owns PornHub have their own system, but it’s a massive, multinational company, not some dodgy business run from someone’s shed.
They’ll know less about you than Amazon or google do, but most people don’t think twice about using them. |

"If this happens il leave and just fuck my kik buddys"
The legislation relates to a person who, “makes pornographic material available on the internet to persons in the United Kingdom on a commercial basis...” Now, fab is a commercial endeavour, but you don’t have to pay to see the pictures people post, so I think it can be argued that it’s not making pornography available on a commercial basis. If this was my website, though, I think I’d be getting legal advice on that sooner rather than later. |

People asked Admin what would be happening with Fab but they didn't know as the rules weren't clear at the time.
The site supporter passes might be deemed payment but the pics are free anyway so only presuming. |

I don't care if Amazon gets hacked and my neighbours find out that I bought a hairdryer and a chair. Porn however...... |

I’m an almost-forty year old single male who lives alone. The whole world knows I look at porn.
Not many know my credit card details, and I know which bit of information is more likely to cost me if it gets in the wrong hands. |

The people that own Pornhub are the ones that have made the Age Verification software that's likely to be used so no porn for you I guess |

It's actually any sites that have any graphic images on them. Whether that's for free or gain. No naked boobs. Wanna see them? The site needs to abide by age verification. There will be many ways to verify. Credit card, electoral roll I guess and probably more.
So yes......fab will be affected and I'd like to think they've sought legal advice. |

I'm against the proposal for many reasons -
1. We have already paid for internet providers to implement adult verification and child blocks and more done will mean that we - the innocent - foot the bill for this too.
2. Adults and parents responsible for children must ensure their wellbeing 24/7.
3. It was not included in a party manifesto before the election and should not be using precious government time and resources.
4. It's an opportunity for a new band of private companies who will operate the checking systems to acquire masses of highly sensitive data on law abiding citizens going about their legal business - this data is highly valuable and could harm the innocent.
5. The technical systems will always be open to circumvention, so it is more wasted public money that should be invested far better.
It's a blanket imposition across the whole of the population and is thus disproportionate. All of us have already paid for age restrictions for internet use - again overkil. Fix it or get parents to parent properly.
Fab may have this applied but it was uncertain, prior to its original launch date

"1. We have already paid for internet providers to implement adult verification and child blocks and more done will mean that we - the innocent - foot the bill for this too."
Those measures require settings to be adjusted, and a lot of people don’t know they’re there or, if they do, how to set them. You realise that you foot the bill for that, too, don’t you? All this law does is make things mandatory.
"2. Adults and parents responsible for children must ensure their wellbeing 24/7." People are responsible for not injuring or killing each other, damaging, destroying or stealing each other’s property, but we still have laws and Police forces in place to ensure that they do, and are punished when they don’t.
"3. It was not included in a party manifesto before the election and should not be using precious government time and resources." Do you think you should maybe fact check before you make statements like this? Start on page 75 of the Conservative manifesto for the 2017 general election. Durr.
"4. It's an opportunity for a new band of private companies who will operate the checking systems to acquire masses of highly sensitive data on law abiding citizens going about their legal business - this data is highly valuable and could harm the innocent." It’s not mandatory for you to register with all of these companies. It’s not even mandatory to register with any of them. Access to pornography isn’t a human right. And these facilities will be overseen by a regulator, which will be the BBFC for the foreseeable future. Out of interest, do you use a mobile telephone? Shop online? Social media? If so, you give more valuable data away every second.
"5. The technical systems will always be open to circumvention, so it is more wasted public money that should be invested far better." This is a logical and ethical fallacy. The Police don’t always prevent or detect crime, should we not bother with that? Hospitals don’t always save people, should we scrub the NHS too?
"It's a blanket imposition across the whole of the population and is thus disproportionate. All of us have already paid for age restrictions for internet use - again overkil. Fix it or get parents to parent properly." Repeating the same non-points. There is no imposition; if you don’t want to be age verified, don’t register. You have no inalienable right to access this site or pornographic sites. Those age restrictions require implementation at user end, so will fail more often. Many parents don’t know how to set it up properly, but that doesn’t make them bad parents. It also doesn’t take care of the kids getting onto someone else’s wi-fi.
"Fab may have this applied but it was uncertain, prior to its original launch date" Uncertainty is no defence. They need to be certain by 15 April. |

Well if they introduce a checking system and we want to continue using Fab then we will provide our details it is as simple as that. If it is the law then so be it, I imagine it will be something along the lines of provide credit card details which as we shop on line we already do it is not going to be a big issue. The company collecting the data will have to comply with GDPR or face massive fines in themselves.
Ultimately whilst our being on this site would be a bit of an embarrassment it is not the worse thing that could happen and we would get over it. |

This.
Odds are it would be a third party site anyway so no direct link to Fab.

I for one would be very reluctant about having to give personal details on any internet site, let alone an adult site. As a previous stated, it could leave you wide open to all kinds of unpleasant situations, including black mail,if the information gets into the wrong hands, and it is only a matter of when, not if. This could be the end for me, as far as using adult sites. |
