I struggle to sleep...been reading all forums and got thinking...What methods do you use to switch off or go to sleep? Counting sheep isn’t working and nor putting down this addictive phone

Nothing. I honestly have no recommendations

Was prescribed sleeping tablets again and I helucinate on them. Not fun!

Hope you get sleep OP. What used to help me was counting in my head. I would time my breathing with each second. X

My mind is normally too busy so I struggle to fall asleep but I have found that spoken radio on a timer tends to work for me and I generally fall asleep within the first 5 minutes.

I play and have played sport.... So I think back to some of the games and what happened.... Bores me to sleep I reckon haha.... Running through all the goals I scored means there's enough of them until I nod off.... After about 45 seconds

I'm an awful sleeper too. I've gotten used to no more than a couple of hours most nights, and lots of time kicking about on here hoping someone else is awake too! Hope you're out for the count now.

Have you tried to put your finger into your belly button while thinking of a washing machine cleaning dirty clothes with hot water (around 90°C) ?

There’s a few mindfulness and meditation techniques on YouTube that helped me clear the head and sleep. But I find routine helps. If there’s something bothering you thats stopping you sleeping don’t forget it’s good to talk xx Happy Christmas x

If it’s a one off, no worries if it’s a pattern then you need to get medical help or you’ll go a bit looney and start browsing and posting on the forums, a sure sign of madness creeping in.

Some antihistamines will work, the active drug is absorbed by the brain rapidly and calms its activity.

On the other hand, habitual change that works for me is to read a book.

I've been struggling to sleep these last couple of months. My GP says its my mind trying to process things after I had a mini stroke. And as I dont get sick pay, only SSP that is playing on my mind too. Hopefully it will improve in the New Year when I go back to work and stimulate my brain again.

Third day of waking up in the middle of the night for me.

Somehow I keep falling down the bed and off my pillows

Good morning x

Broken sleep is crap. I seem to have got into the habit of needing a pee at 4 am ish.

Scared I'll wet myself if I don't pee so I keep getting up. God I feel old.

Leeds + Newcastle

Getting to sleep isn't an issue for me, it's the staying asleep I struggle with.

Once I'm awake for any reason, that's it. I'm up.

I don't try to force myself though I'll get up and do something or even just moving to the sofa with Netflix can help me doze off.

Nowt worse than just lying in bed waiting for sleep

Often I will put one headphone in and listen to a podcast or audio book. It allows the mind to focus on one thing and I soon drop to sleep.
