It didn't change much when mobiles came in to be honest, smartphones with constant internet access are a different beast altogether though, that's what's turned us all into zombies!

I’ve had a mobile since I was 10. A very basic one mind, didn’t get a good one until I was 14 and had my own job to pay for it.

So I don’t know any better.

I remember the iPhone was brand new and my dad ordered one online...and two came. He waited three weeks before opening the second one, and gave it to my mum.

"In what way?"

The fact that you can't just disappear and be non-contactable anymore. If someone wants to contact you they just call you. And dont answer they'll want to know why you didn't answer... before you'd have to find out where that person was and find out the number of where they were. You didn't really think about calling someone unless they where at home. You can't just switch your phone off just in case someone needs you. There are good points to mobiles don't get me wrong. But before was better. Technology has ruined modern life. Enhanced it yes, but people are a lot more miserable these days. Kids are more lazy, they don't walk to knock for someone and if they're not there walk for miles to look for them.

I think it's shit when people are having food together and one is on their damned phone.

Especially parents on their phone ignoring their kids.

Yeah that too. How many of you know more than 10 people in your street? Before people socialised more outside of their homes. Go over to neighbours instead of texting. People still do that but I've witnessed it. Friends come over and use their phones. You start thinking just over to use your wifi

Yeah it wasn't pleasant but it was an experience and it got you off your arse. Nothing is much effort anymore. Everything is made to make life easier for people. Don't get me started on Alexa!!

I don't think my life was better before mobiles. I liked my kids being able to contact me if they were stuck or in trouble, I like my elderly parents being able to contact me if they need me and I'm not at home, being able to call for help if I break down and so on.

Of course I don't like the down side of them but let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

I have a 'friend' that does that! He openly says he's downloading big files on my WiFi so it doesn't use all his own allowance.

How common is that though, It never really happen's when me and my friends are out, obviously someone will check their phone once in a while, but no one spends the entire night on the phone when we are all together.

Common here. Work.. out and about. Not everyone does it. But it's frequent.

Not in pubs though. Maybe no signal.

People when they meet siting on their phone when going clubs are on the phones Don't let technology move you away from where you are. Use it to connect, but not to disconnect from the very people with whom you live!

Completely agree. There's good and bad in everything,I think the main downside for me is young teenagers and the amount of bullying that goes on. Take their mobile away from them and they go into a meltdown, theyre completely addicted it's scary to see the effect they have on them.

Just had to be organised and actually be where you said you would be. I more often than not go out without my phone.

I agree with you on this.

There are good points and bad points as with any technology. The key way to ensure that its a positive thing, as with most things, is balance. Don't let technology take over and don't invest all your time in it. Get your kids to put their phones away and interact.

We are the first generation to have to assimilate this technology into our world, I try and make sure that I teach my kids healthy ways of utilising it
