This might sound shit but I try not to hope for things because for years it only ended in me feeling unappreciated and hurt.
There are things I do hope for, like a happy ever after, or to be in someone's thoughts, but I try not to hope too much. Damage limitation.

Oh it wasn't him that made it that way, in fact he's the reason I'm starting to have hope again with certain things, which is quite scary!
