Oh I've heard of this fire coral, sounds very unpleasant"
Technically not a real coral but looks like one. I brushed against it and ended up having hospital treatment and my dive course stopped by the doctor. So be careful. xxx |

marmite
more seriously, cover your arms and legs at dusk ,cover your hair, the smell of sweat attracts them, use tiger balm on the bites,
Though it is true marmite eaters get bitten less |

There are plenty of anti mostiko applications available to buy here before you go but you might well find better ones locally when you arrive. That's my experience anyhows.
Take some and then ask a local when you get there. |

If your room is air conditioned there should not be a problem while in the room, but if it isn't then buy one of the plugs ins and the tabs that go with them. Again good ones will be available locally. |

Is'nt it vitamin B that they don't like
Don't all rush to buy it as im not sure
another good little gadget to have if you do get bitten is a little zapper thing that you place over the bite and then click, apparently it takes the itch away |

garlic tablets are good but can make ya breath smell ... good tip we had as an alternative was to take vitamin B tablets, start 2 weeks before you go away and take while there.
worked for us with no garlic breath.
only thing is, it dont work with multi vitamins with B in them, have to be vitamin B on its own. and they dirt cheap in superdrugs own brand |

I usually provide a feast for mossi's if I dont protect myself....a xl condom normally works pulled right up over the head.
No seriously I got my worst ever bits there. Normally I would use aftersun with the mossi stuff in, then spray my legs with anti mossi stuff. But one night I forgot to spray my legs, just did my top half with the aftersun. Well the next day I awoke with so many bites it was unbelievable. I give up counting after I reached 100 on each leg. After a few days I had to call the doctor out who prescibled antihistamines and antibiotics because I had inflamation from them.
If I was you Pet, the XL condom sounds a good choice to me |

Spent 3 months in Malaysia and tried everything. Deet is the best, but nasty stuff. Citronella is brilliant and smells quite nice to. A couple of the girls with us swore that eating bananas helped.
Best keep covered up as much as possible at dawn and dusk and cover ankles, feet, hands and wrists in repellant |

There are mixed views on Vitamin B's effectivenes but it won't harm to take it in advance.
When out at night try wearing white trousers. The mozzies show up against it so prefer to land on dark materials, ideally in the dark, under tables. You might see someone with those electric tennis raquet things waving it under the bar and tables to zap them. |

i've tried taking garlic...vitamin B....both were shyte at stopping mozzies...
did the deet bit...worked perfectly but it stains if you don't let it dry before getting dressed and you have to put it on outside otherwise you carnt fooking breath LOL...
now I use boots own suncream with insect repellent built in for daytime use, and autan (with 20% icardin) at night...doesn't stain, don't make you gag...and works perfectly, not been bit in last 3 years of travel |

You can buy wrist bands i got ours from the pound shop and they have 2 in each pack, ours lasted the full week even though the pack stated they only lasted 72 hours, and none of us got bitten.
They where selling them on the plain on the way out for £4.99 each!
The staff at the hotel thought they where brilliant and we ended up giving them the spare ones we had, got us a few brownie points.

Years ago I got bitten whilst in Corfu. the bite came up about 3/4 inch in diameter and if I led down, was on my thigh, you could see it throbbing, it looked as if it was alive and like something out of the film The Alien.
Now when it burst................ |

"deet or avon skin so soft apparently works well with midges and mossies" Avon skin so soft but it has to be the green one not the pink one, apparently it works realy well, but they arent allowed to advertise it as a repellent, people in the know have been using it for years, added bonus of lovely soft skin

I'm the same - if it bites, it bites me!!
I usually take antihistamine tablets so that it doesn't itch if I do get bitten and I always keep the mossie machine plugged in 24/7. I use the spray repellants almost continually when I'm out and about too. It's a real bug bear of mine (pun intended) |
