Today is 30 years since my life changed forever (and I should, by rights, have died) and while it still gives me problems to this day, I still fight and survive.

So "anniversary twin" ... Go You ... And keep on going ... You WILL win x

"Me too, survived and love life now "

I dont always love life, but when I get to the stage where I don't, I remind myself of what happened, and the alternative, and it helps to get me back on track

I went to war in 82, I saw many injuries beyond compare, witnessed acts of unspeakable evil and acts of unbelievable kindness, I leaned to hate and I made some of the best friends I could ever have. Not a day goes by when I don't spend at least an hour of it thinking about that experience but I'm still here, admittedly wearing a dress but I'm still here

Do you have PTSD? I admire what you did.

I always wanted to go in the RAF from being 5 or 6 years old, but the event of 30 years ago killed that dream forever

There is no shame in struggling.

Or admitting to struggling.

And regardless of however hard your struggle may be you'll find when the chips are down you can survive far more than you ever think you can.

What's that quote about the teabag? You dot know how strong it is til you put it in hot water.

To all you struggling survivors..Hold your head up and have faith in yourselves.

Here's hoping tomorrow is a better day.

I guess I'm a survivor as was diagnosed with a brain tumour 8 years ago and I'm still here and still have my sight. It's been bloody tough as the drugs are horrendous, lost count how many brain scans I've had and the drugs affect the heart muscles so I have heart scans too. It's caused me so many health issues but I count my blessings every day

Nobody hits harder than life, when it knocks you down, its all about getting back up and dusting yourself off and trying to carry on with it.

You cant control what your not in control of.

Iceland, but Aldi is closer..

Just over a year ago I found out that I was ill.. I will always remember the specialist telling me and the feelings I had at the time... at first I was afraid, I was petrified, thinking I would not survive with this growth in my side.. I spent so many nights wondering what did I do wrong

But I got on, and learned how to become strong..

And I'm on my back in a strange place,

The radiologist walked in with a stupid grin upon his face,

He told me to relax, he told me just to lay there still,

He zapped me with some xrays and they made me take plenty of pills..

And now it's gone, from out my head, no more talking to an oncologist from the comfort of a bed.

They are certain that gone but I need to get checked out

So far so good, I have finally found my clout (ok, I know that bad but trout didn't work either!)

And that's me, I did survive

And as long as I have friends at my side I know I'll stay alive.

I've got all that love to make, eat some pasta bake and I'll survive...

I will survive, hey hey...

Each post has equal value. Obviously mine more so but now you’ve got an unblocked drain. Congrats

Saucy, if you unblocked it using a selection of vibrating toys, I wanna know about it...

Actually it was a large kitchen serving spoon tied to a broom handle...... My selection of vibrating toys are used for unblocking something else

I suppose I should celebrate some of the life changing events that have happened to me, but then I would have to admit they left life lasting issues for me to deal with.

"Everyone has a story.

Yes I agree but I am talking about HUGE, life changing experiences x

That suggests you're somehow downplaying experiences of others "

You mean to say that you have blockages elsewhere?

They obviously need a regular service to keep them squeaky clean.. if you need a hand..

"I have a 100% success record for not succumbing to my depression, so that's pretty awesome.

Same here (although it's not today's reason for celebrating surviving)

Love your positivity towards others xx"

Thank you, I (apparently) am the one people come to at work because I have that "caring" gene xx

"Had a few life changing events, the rarity has worn off.

The only event I still celebrate, is being given the all clear from cancer."

That's one hell of a survival

"Just over a year ago I found out that I was ill..

"

And it's fantastic that you did...one of Fab's finest

Haha, typically "male" statement ... It's not a negative, celebrate surviving whatever happens

I’m a survivor.

I’ve been on 4 operational tours to war zones. (Iraq & Afghanistan). I’ve been shot at more times than I care to remember. I’ve lost very close friends in those conflicts and helped so many others to survive. (I’m a medic). I’ve seen more tradgedy than I care to recount. I’ve been out of the forces for 4 years now and work in a very busy city hospital. I thank my lucky stars for the person I am today.

Near Wells

10 years ago this Christmas eve I was taken into hospital with a very serious although not life changing condition. I was in for a couple of months.

Today I am healthier and fitter than ever and will be spending Christmas on the beach

Are you a true survivors or do you struggle getting through HUGE life issues? "

I had a stroke 3 years ago...I struggle with pain and fatigue every day...but I am still here so I am not only a survivor...but a warrior

I'm a survivor, got diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis end oct last year. Normaly it averages 2-3 years from diagnosis to the finish. Got told didn't have years but I'm still here and still fighting...might need oxygen when I move about but thats ok...found out there's an advantage to that as well, when you wear a nasal canula feeding you oxygen you dont need to be able to breathe through your ears (wink wink) hehe. Bottom line am Definitely a survivor!

This year I realised I have been alive longer since I beat cancer than I had been before I was diagnosed with cancer. So I think that probably makes me a survivor.
