Xmas is xmas, seems it only exists with a house full.

Im just feelimg a bit low at the prospect. Waking up on the day for the first time in 47 years to an empty house.

What about staying at parents on Christmas Eve? Make them a stocking each to open up over a delicious breakfast.

I had my first alone last year and I have to say the day itself was quite nice. I napped, I read, listened to music. I had a nice piece of steak for dinner and a few glasses of Champagne in the evening. I wouldn’t worry now if I have another Christmas alone (likely as the kids alternate Christmas with their Dad).

Just make sure you do what you enjoy and get yourself some treats

I've had some alone it's not too bad if you don't mind your own company and it saves having an argument with that annoying relative!

Then go and stay with your parents and enjoy their company while you still have them.

Mine both died a few years ago. This will be my fourth consecutive Christmas day home alone as a consequence. Wish they were still here....

Posted this in a couple of threads on here so seems appropriate to post it here too

If anyone is alone over Christmas I'm hosting a Christmas dinner/party on the 25th for up to 12 people, some sleep over places are available

Embrace it

I have spent many on my own and I now enjoy them immensely

I appreciate offers from friends to spend the day with them but hate when they get offended that I would rather be on my own

It's just another day, but a day you can spend in your PJs, eat what you want, watch shit tv, and have peace! Bliss

If it does distress you, plenty of things to go do. Charitable organisations often looking for help

It's just another day. One day out of the other 365 and it really isn't any lonelier or potentially heartbreaking than the rest of the year. I've spent a number of Christmas Days on my own and none were in any way difficult or problematic.

That's great that you deal with it and many like you also do, so power to you, honestly I really mean that .. some don't though for whatever reasons they may have

Don't be alone, reach out. Even if it's taking a stroll to the pub for an hour or two and making conversation with stranger.

I cannot reiterate this sentiment more!!

I'm pretty damned old and lost my Mum 4 years ago and my Dad 2 years ago. I'd give anything for the opportunity of a Christmas Day with them.

Christmas time is time when you need someone by you who represents your family and now I have Children & Grandchildren I have that, it is fantastic, but being able to hug my Mum and chuckle with my Dad again would be so wonderful. Go see them while you can, you will all appreciate it.

(Whilst you are thinking 'dozy old twat just being sentimental' you will see how difficult it is when you can't....but wish you had/could)

I get that totally. Christmas hasn't been the same since we lost my Mum, it really does bring it home how much you should appreciate them, and other people, whilst you can.

There can be more to Christmas than watching TV if one makes an effort.

I've done home alone Christmases, when I was living with someone too . It IS just another day but no matter how hard you try to tell yourself that, it does sting a bit.

There are people who long for a quiet Christmas but have family commitments, to get together and argue.

Christmas come with such high expectations that very few people end up getting what they want, not talking about presents.

Enjoy time with your family, make some new tradition for them and be happy that the days are getting longer

Iv lost both my parents and as a single lady I have spent many Christmas on my own. I have friends that I spend the day with and love it but its not the same.

I just wake up, eat chocolate for breakfast and enjoy the peace and quite.
