Just thinking about O2 going down yesterday(massive panic),but I remember when there wasn't any mobile phones,back in the 80s and early 90s when I used to go out, everything ran on time,everybody got a taxi and got home ok

It shocks me just how reliable we all are on technology now!
When it works, which is most of the time, it’s great. But when it doesn’t......oh boy. The shit really does hit the fan!! |

I had to get up in the morning at ten o'clock at night half an hour before I went to bed, drink a cup of sulphuric acid, work twenty-nine hours a day down mill, and pay mill owner for permission to come to work, and when we got home, our Dad and our mother would kill us and dance about on our graves singing Hallelujah |

About 2 months ago my mates son got in what he thought was a taxi outside a club,the driver stopped the car in a secluded place and beat him up and nicked his money,and left him unconscious at about 3am......true story |

Weirdly people get more colds from flying now that has stopped. Because the airlines removed all the air filtration to save weight..
I remember being out all day from morning til dark during school holidays. Nobody checking up on you unless you see my back by the time it got dark (and nothing to do with vampires)
There was no hysteria about people with illegal interests in kids. Everyone knew whom the village weirdo was and avoided them. Or egged their windows.
As a man, you could make plans for the weekend with a couple of 30 second calls.
When you had time in the day to do things rather than stare at a small screen.
You could have a laugh on a night out, being unselfconscious as nobody had cameras/phones out to share every second.
I also remember having to sit exams in a hall with everyone else, without a myriad of support workers to read and explain the questions to anyone. Or hold anyone's hand as they were stressed... |

Ok this is true, I can remember my grandparents house, they had no toilet in the house. The toilet was in a shed part way down the garden, it wasn’t even a flushing system. It was a hole cut and polished in two planks of wood. There was under this a large pit (lime pit)
So famous was this that I know the toilet was photographed and in a book as one of the few remaining examples of a lime pit toilet
