"Research the UAE very thoroughly before heading there.
Don't, for example, eat a bacon roll with poppy seeds on it on the way there, for example."
Why not |

Imagine swinging out there would require a piece of rope and a crane. |

Poppy seeds fall under the opium laws over there, mandatory four years.
You can get four years for prescription medicines, or having the end of a joint stuck on your shoe after doing a stop over in Amsterdam.

We have been to Dubia many times and have villa out there, you would be suprised what goes on in the UAE. Lots of clubs/bars to drink in and prostitues are plentiful (not that we were into that sort of thing mind!) There are many tourists that go to the UAE that are swingers so it is just a case of going to the bars and chatting to people, that or try and speak to people before they go.

"hmmmmm I've got 3 job aplication in for positions in the UAE at the moment "
It sounds so easy to fall foul of the law out there - and they don't mess about - stick a finger upto someone and it's a month in jail |

Not sure if my replies were taken as "not serious", but typing in "UAE poppy seeds" into google will get this from the BBC, who I believe are a reputable source ....
"
Meanwhile, a Swiss national is serving a four-year jail term after three poppy seeds from a bread roll he ate at Heathrow airport were found on his clothes.
"
.... not knocking the place, just not going there on purpose. |

to be fair... had the original question been expanded a little and his location shown he lived there...
I wouldn't have answered as I would have known he knew that.
but with what we had to go on..... the answers are fair.
either way.... good luck and have fun |

Yes, i dont think the OP helpedwithhis one line question...
Op, we lived overseas for many years, the expat community tends to get up to a lot of things that remain hidden, often with the knowledge of the law so long as discretion is maintained at all times.
Know the ppl you are playing with, and be aware of the risks...then have fun |

There was program about Dubai justice a couple of years ago on ITV.
One man was offered a 4 year contract to work in Dubai. When he arrived he was stopped by customs. They accused his rolling tobacco of being grass/. He got 5 years.
Another man was in a hotel. He bent down to tie a shoelace. As he did so he farted. A Muslim woman complained he disrespected her. He got 10 years.
A rumour went around a British couple were illicit lovers. One day out driving they got stopped by the police and beaten up. they wer a genuine couple not illicit lovers.
There were other justice horror stories as well. I wouldn’t go to one of them countries for all the tea in china.

When going through customs you are met with security guards armed with rather large guns (no not a euphemism :P). As i walked through the metal detectector i tripped and, so not to swear in public, i shouted SHOOT! Mat was standing behind me rather alarmed fearing they would think the worst. The guards just laughed!
The couple who had sex on the beach, which were later arrested, were told numerous times to stop, but they were ignorant and ignored them. If i was an officer, i too would have arrested them for their rudeness!
Again, whilst out there, we saw many skinny dipping etc and if caught the guards just asked them to stop and move along.
At the end of the day, the media will heighten any sutuation to get a story. It is just a case of respecting the law. If you typed into google... 'Injustice in..(followed by a name of a country)' You would read many cases that could be deemed injust or extreme.
I deleted it the first time due to typos

It's worth remembering that there are different cultures in the separate Emirates.
For instance, people in Dubai don't watch The Flintstones whilst those in Abu Dhabi do. |
