Make Up false a form of advertising and is it fair?
E.G. I Just clocked that Woman from the Inbetweeners on that I'm a Celebrity before the news. If you saw her dolled up and and then in there you would think it was a different person. |

"Is it fair? Totally, you can wear make up too if you want.
A masculine man can't wear Make Up!
Why not?" Actors can get away with it. I think you'd look a bit behind with rent if a man wore it. |

I think she's naturally beautiful and even in the jungle looks hot. Well I would
I actually think she looks more beautiful without the makeup
I use make up but those that spend the night with me see the non make up version... And guess what.... They still request more meets |

I only started wearing make-up in my 40s before that I couldn't be arsed and had pretty good skin. I now need all the help I can get! But less is more. I
Still never wear make-up to work |

Must be hard being a woman, always having the feeling you are being judged. At the end of the day it is up to the individual, it is about what makes them feel good in themself.
If on a set day that means lots of make up and on another not much, that is their choice. |

I actually find it quite easy to be a woman, I've had a lot of practice .
Years ago I was on a residential professional course, one "gent" thought he'd do me a favour and tell me I was a good looking woman but would be even better if I wore a bit of make up. It's impossible to please everyone so I choose to please myself |

Scientifically it's fair as males are visual.
Basically, picture ladies as peacocks beautiful birds very colourful. Attracting a desired mate. Although in the animal world its the male peacock that is the colourful one...

I saw Emily tonight , and I loved the side boob shots , but I know what the op is saying .
If you look at google images when you put her name in she looks nothing like the pics you’ll see . Is it false wearing all that make up ? Possibly , but hey ho .
My wife wears make up all the time , she won’t leave the house without it . I’ve said many times she doesn’t have to , and I always get the same response . “ I wear it for me , not for you or anyone else , so don’t tell me I don’t need to wear it “ . And that’s fair enough , she wants to wear make up and that’s fine by me . |

No I don't think it does. A lot of men say they don't like women to wear a lot of make up. I assume that they choose not to approach women that do and go for women who sport the natural look. |

I think that it's a mistake a lot of men make, assuming that women dress and wear make up for their benefit.
Quite a lot of women actually dress and wear make up to impress other women. |

I personally think she is very brave going in there and having people see her as she really is but Then again she is very pretty..
As an actress she has to give off a certain image so I'm sure for her the lack of make up made a nice change..

Just wow
As a woman who knows lots of women in my experience if we are wearing short skirts in the cold it’s for fashion certainly not to advertise to men haha. In regards to wearing makeup it’s so I look in the mirror and think I look good, I wear it to work it makes me feel good about myself, I’m not advertising for men at work, I’m a married woman. |

I take several factors into account when I dress and apply make up.
Firstly do I like the way I look.
Secondly will Mr N like the way I look.
Thirdly do I look attractive/acceptable/stylish to other people.
If I'm going to my parents house I apply factor number four which is am I showing too much cleavage.
I only seek approval for how I look from Mr N but I do want to present myself well to the outside world. I'm not ashamed to admit that I enjoy admiration from other men and women either. |

I don't think you're going to get anyway with this.
If you approach from a social science perspective then yeah women wear makeup to attract attention. As society over hundreds of years has pushed western women more so to go down this route. To the point where most especially the younger generation with influence from media feel they must in order to be pretty.
The older generation not so much unless they work in high paying positions and interact with a load of males in similar positions. They then feel they need to in order to gain an edge to stay current/relative. |

Heavy make up can totally change a face, which isn't letting people see the real you.
They need to be able to wake up next to you in the morning and not think you swapped places with your mother in the night. |

I'm not sure about other women, but for me I wear makeup because I like to. It isn't false advertising if you're not a commodity looking for a buyer.

Totally, it’s bullshit that a man can wear make up in everyday situations and not have it ripped. I can’t think of anything a woman would do, where she would have the piss taken all day for something she’s wearing. But correct me if I’m wrong ladies. |

If you look at google images when you put her name in she looks nothing like the pics you’ll see . Is it false wearing all that make up ? Possibly , but hey ho .

In some parts of the world it's the man that wears the make up.And in history men wore make up and heels and stockings.
Pink was for boys blue girls.
Men wore silks and frilly blouses etc.
It was only when men started to work in factory's and the world wars that most men stopped having long hair. In the last 60 odd years young men wore make up.punks ,new romantics ,goths plus a lot of men wear nail polish.
Then there's me a cross dresser.
I do what women do now days I wear whatever I like.

I don't think wearing make up is false advertising. False representation possibly. I falsely represent myself daily.
Women don't wear make up to deceive men. Very few women apply mascara before a night out thinking that it's going to trick an otherwise disinterested guy into wanting to date them.
I think that some men have a cynical view of women and what motivates them and its a shame |

I pretty much wear makeup everytime I leave the house. How much depends on the occasion. I still look like me but with a more uniform complexion ( dark skin pigmentation isn't always uniform) and longer eyelashes. I prefer to have makeup on but that's down to my insecurities due to certain experiences relating to my skin tone.
I have seen some YouTube makeup tutorials though where the woman looks nothing like how she looks without makeup. As much as I admire their skill and think it's fantastic, I can see how if you went on a few dates then had the first sleepover and woke up to a different face it would be pretty annoying. So I do see what you're trying to say.

I wear make up because I feel better wearing it. I don’t sit around at home with it on though. I do however HAVE to wear make up for my job. Red lips, mascara, blusher and foundation is a minimum. I’m also told the colour to paint my nails. Luckily I wear red lipstick anyway. |

Do you generally go for women who wear make up then? I don't understand the issue some men have with women who wear make up. If it isn't your thing, you think it's deceptive and you reckon it makes the competition greater why aren't you just going for women who don't wear it? |

So women wear makeup and both men and women groom and wear nice clothes and put on a display in order to attract a mate. So do many plants and animals, why should we be any different? |

"Make Up false a form of advertising and is it fair?
E.G. I Just clocked that Woman from the Inbetweeners on that I'm a Celebrity before the news. If you saw her dolled up and and then in there you would think it was a different person. "
I can't be arsed reading the full thread...
Makeup to me is something I don't wear in daily life... If I'm going to a special event I'll wear a little as part of my dressing up for the occasion effort...
The majority of my face pics on here have no makeup (think there's one where I've mascara and eyeshadow) as I prefer potential meets to see me how I would look if we woke up together...
So yeah... I guess I must see it as a falsehood if I'm not comfortable with people only seeing me 'made up' |

I think its sad that excessive makeup has become the norm. There were always some women who wore too much, but in the instagram age its got to the stage where you sometimes can't recognize a women when her makeups removed, so I understand the sentiment of the OP.
I`ve had a couple of women in my bed who have left my white sheets looking like a sand pit in the morning, because they've had so much foundation on..
People just can't handle `real` any more, & that's just sad. |

Make up for me is more of a fashion thing. Red lips, black flicked eyeliner and a hat is my signature style so it’s just something people that know me see all the time. |

I agree - the younguns need to stop slathering it on with a trowel
It's sad that they don't realise that youth is beauty.
Those HD brows are ridiculous and what is all of that contouring about?
It's like stage makeup for daily life - they must have to get up at 4am to get ready for the day!
I personally can't be arsed with all that, less is more.
Red lipstick is a must on some occasions though |

Is excessive make up the norm? I probably mix in different circles to some being older. Our daughter is late twenties and I know her and her friends wear more make up than my friends and I but I wouldn't call it excessive. I do notice some young women that are very heavily made up but I wouldn't say its the norm. |

I don't think it's the norm. Most of my friends in their 20s and early 30s wear makeup but don't "slather it with a trowel". I can't remember the last time I saw someone, not online, who had excessive makeup on.

"More to the point what do you think they're advertising? Their real looks. I had an ex and she did her best to never let me see her face with no Make Up.
But advertising, like a commodity that's for sale? Do you really mean that like it reads?
When women are on nights out etc a lot are advertising for men. They don't wear short dresses in the cold for no reason.
I wear them to look good I don’t get dressed up for men, only me
I think that it's a mistake a lot of men make, assuming that women dress and wear make up for their benefit.
Quite a lot of women actually dress and wear make up to impress other women.
I don't do it for either of those reasons- Like Queen - I do it for myself.
I'm not ashamed to admit that I enjoy admiration from other men and women either."

If Mr N didn't like the way you looked would you change it?
I'd consider it, yes. It's unlikely to happen unless I radically changed how I look though.
My husband would create if I wore anything showing cleavage or short. I had to be very careful when choosing my outfits
Mr N would like me to wear clothes that show more cleavage. . "
Why am I not surprised |

I do have clothes that I only wear indoors . I don't want to frighten the horses.
Now I sound as if I go to Tesco dressed like a cartoon hooker |

"For all the people saying men can wear make up too, I’ll put some mascara on and eyeliner and see how I get treated on a building site. I’ll let you know how the results go Yeah exactly! They would tear you a new arsehole. "
You might like it. |
