What I don't get about PMT is that if women know they have it, and are usually quite sane and 'with it' any other time, why doesn't that intelligence kick in while they're having PMT and stop them from acting like complete bitches?
I think us men should adopt a football approach to it.

Theres not really a comparison for men with the mentality of thinking PMS is controllable or to understand the effect of female sex hormones and the role they play in keeping the human species going but Ill give it a go.
Think about how you are when you're all chilled and empy balled... then look at how you all behave when you're after a shag. Suddenly start being Nigel Havers turning on the charm and testing the water with mawkish sentimentality..... so you all know you have Nigel Havers in you, you charmers but like PMS it only raises its head periodically.
Oh look at that nice man - he's on his Nigel Havers!!!
