The idea was to suggest that if General Junkers and his palls want an army how about Conscription for all 18-25 year olds. And we make this public before the next referendum. |

They will have to bring in conscription across Europe if they hope to recruit the numbers they will need for a single European army, and with soldiers pulled from all corners of Europe with vast cultural differences, who will they be loyal to? I'm glad we're keeping out of it. |

I got this one, a NATO general once said he wanted British troops, German weapons and the American budget.
Let’s just make the British armed forces the worlds biggest and best PMC and Europe can pay us, or anyone else. |

"Who are they planning to go to war with?"
Us? Nah they just want a euro army to go do UN stuff. That PMCs could do far more effectively if you were to look at Executive Outcomes and Sandlines work in Sierra Leone. |

"Best "straw man" I have read for a while.
Make something up, attribute it a third party you do not like and let the mischief begin.
"
Yep. As long as NATO exists, Europe will never have it's own dedicated army because there simply is not any need for one. |

The other NATO countries need to start spending 3% of their budget.
Currently they don't spend the minimum requirement on defence and they expect Britain and usa to defend them.
EU army = good idea
Britain should be independent allies.
Ukraine is under threat...
Ukraine and Estonia are loyal friends to us...
War isn't good...
But dismissing fighting (of any kind) entirely is not something I encourage in other people.
Pacifism isn't good really. If your not prepared to defend your friends and family or yourself it's not good.
It's sitting back and allowing something you are obliged to stop.
If Russia invades countries who have shed blood on our countries behalf. It's only right to help them in a time of need because that's what friends do.
Being a "pacifist" is allowing someone to intimidate your friend or girlfriend or allies and not being honest/integral enough to be by their side.
(I'm ineligible for military but the mortality of defending friends/loved ones is same principal)
"Pacifict" ideology seems to stem from Hollywood or left wing media. It's linked and funded by Soviet commie "subversion"
^^^the kids in Russia are not learning to be pacifists...
But the KGB IS and always has been working, "subverting" and influencing left wing western media.
They want westerners to be anti war/government/military...
But grownups should understand that fighting is the answer when diplomacy fails... |

Sounds like a good idea. UK is the only five eyes country in Europe, and as such is loyal to the CIA/NSA. We should break that link why not. I know it would be too much for the UK to adapt to, fighting for what is in europes interest and not Americas, and maybe they could not adapt to that, but oh well, UK is leaving anyway. |

Who is the "Straw Man" here? There are open discussions between France and Germany to form an E U Army. There are moves for Germany to have a permanent seat on the UN. Nato is under threat from the US and under funding from Europe,(apart from us)

"French troops, Spanish weapons and a Greek budget..
Scary!"
It's an odd stat but Greece spends more per head on defence than most countries in the world, Google it I can't remember their ranking but it's right up there, or was!! |

Sadly we are not the formidable force we once were. If the Falklands happened now, I doubt the outcome would be the same. |

Trump pointed out that when he told the EU members of Nato they needed to stop replying on the USA in funding the armed forces, they put in 3+%, we, about 2% along with Greece, Germany were about 0.9% iirc, shameful for an economic superpower. |

The CETME was quite cool, the G3 is based on it. They did a 5.56 CETME that’s realy really pleasant to use |

Well yes, they are on the periphery of Europe and in 200 years were occupied by the Ottoman's, invaded by the italians, Turks and Germans, then had a stint of being vassalated by the Soviets.
And since the cold war ended the Turks keep trying their luck.
I think I'd still be militarily inclined especially given that Russia is either blowing hot air or is being serious, turkey leans in on them, they took the brunt of the 2015 migration crisis.
They sit at the big boys table via the EU and America is moving away from international security, it's sensible that they make sure they are prepared |
