arghhh im suffering with it!
I ruined my carpets, a month later one of the two carpets got replaced. The 2nd couldn't be laid because the measurements were completely wrong. Ive been waiting for the 2nd carpet now for 5 weeks and ive not even had a phone call to tell me a date when its going to be fitted...
oh and to make it worse i did have a call saying they would have to make it a different carpet colour - only slightly.. but now all my flat carpets wont be the same ARGHHHHHH |

Two months ago i gutted my bedroom, ive been waiting for the furniture to go up. Just the ottaman now and thats it but ive now got to have a plug socket raised. It looks bloody gorgeous though. But my house has been upside down since August when i had my new bathroom. Patience is a virtue. Mine all looks lovely now |

You are not required to accept a carpet of a different colour to that you ordered unless you are living in rented accommodation and your landlord has agreed to it. |

"Surely if the carpet fitters cocked up then they should replace the carpet already fitted to match the second"
well the insurance guy came round to see if the carpets could be cleaned and decided i needed new carpets so they took measurements using an electic laser thing. We chose the carpets from a sample board he had with him
4 weeks later the carpet fitter arrived and measured using a tape measure and found out my hallway carpet was short by 20cm in length and a few of the wider sections were short where the laser hadnt taken into account doorways.
He fitted my little ones bedroom, re measured the hallway with a tape measure and that was the last i heard from him.
Dialed up Natwest who told me they hadn't been informed of any problems so they had to find out what went on and why i was without hallway carpet.. after more phone calls the order was put in. 4 days later i had a call to say the roll of carpet my little ones bedroom was taken from had all been used and i needed to select another colour. They had one only a shade or two different so had no choice but to say yes (id already paid for it at this stage)..
I called up on Dec 15th and was told the carpet fitter had the carpet and i was to wait for him to arrange a date..
Im still waiting |

you absolutely had a choice,
was it your fault tat the roll had been used? no.
was it your fault the measurements were wrong, no.
if you feel you had no choice beause you want to get the job done that is another matter and one you cannot complain about |

Sounds like it's the assesors fault then, you should contact the insurers, put it in writing as to what as happened and state that you feel you are being mafe to accept goods that you are not happy with |

Where'd you get your carpets from?!! Beginning on November decided to refurbish my house top to bottom, including new bathroom, resand floors, new carpets etc.
After main work done phone carpet company Thursday morning, man came and measure that afternoon, picked carpet, paid for it and carpet laid the following Satursday.
Had a falling out with the builders so snagging will cost me additionally to have done tomorrow.
Never...again! ![](/icons/s/confused.gif) |

Nahhh I think Wishy has made the right point.
If I recall the paint spillage thread where the 5lt of white paint was dropped to the floor by the toddler.... it is the landlord's insurance policy.
In which case, if the landlord is happy that's all that counts to the insurance folk. |

but if she rang natwest to discuss it, that would mean the insurance is in her name as they wouldnt be able to discuss a claim with anyone other than the claimant due to DPA? |

That's what I thought in the paint spillage thread.... but apparently not, so it seems. |
