What is the most off-putting place you’ve been suggested for a social?

I insist on a social before going any further (though I’ve made a couple of exceptions). Yes, this is a sex site, but to me, the social aspect is as important as the sex itself. If my mind is not aroused, neither will my body. I’ve been told this is a load of hogswash and that I should not be on here if I don’t just want to be upstairs with my legs spread wide just waiting for any plonker who asks me if I want “sum fun xx” sorry, I digress...

But anyway, I enjoy the social aspect, and I make an effort. I will dress nicely- I always meet during the day, so stockings and stilettos are a bit difficult to manage, especially if I have to come back to do the school run straight after but I will dress seductively and will try to look attractive. The price of the venue to meet for a social is irrelevant as I never expect other people to pay for me and I will always insist to pay for my lunch/coffee/drinks.

Usually I am asked to come up with a place- which gets tiresome. It is very nice to get a message saying “I know a charming little coffee shop/pub in x area, I’d love to meet you there...” and I have done in the past, which has been lovely for these gents to make the effort and research or make plans for a lovely social.

But there’s been a couple of times lately that I’ve been chtting, things look good for a social, and I’ve said that I like having plans laid in front of me and I was given a service station to meet, and just now, McDonald’s! I am laughing, really... why would I want to leave the comfort of my sofa to make the effort and dress to impress to go to a service station or to a McDonald’s?

And people wonder why they don’t get any meets...

This is a lighthearted post by the way. I’m not expecting The Savoy or The Ritz. Just a bit of thought... I go to McD’s with my kids often enough!

There and to the left a bit

I personally wouldn't suggest somewhere like a fast food restaurant or a service station for a social meet - would usually go for a coffee shop or a pub, or have even met in a park for a walk and a chat.

That said I guess a lot may depend on circumstance, distance travelling etc and availability of locations mid-way, not to mention the type of connection that has been built up - some see socials as a quick coffee and confirmation that the other person is who their profile suggests they are, so guess that's why somewhere like McD's may seem acceptable to them - wouldn't be for me though.

I had a social in a little place that has a load of pinball machines. It was great fun.

I usually find a cafe or tea shop close to them. If it doesn't go well, at least I have tea.

I've met someone in a Costa coffee at a services station near me, my suggestion. It happened to be half way between out and convenient for him as he was travelling on the M1. I would draw the line at McDonald's though.....

I prefer a nice pub but it would only ever be a coffee, I really can't stand the thought of having lunch with someone that I didn't fancy.

The Mcd or service station idea isn't an option, it's cheapskate at best, a pub or decent coffee house is the best option simply because it offers both the chance of bailing if it's not what was expected, a hotel is presumptuous

Casino is a good 1 because I'll be playing Poker afterwards if it doesn't go further. Done that on a few dates, it's a win win.

This is true, though I’ve been lucky in the lunch socials I’ve had as in there’s been attraction etc, but yes, a coffee/tea/becerage of choice is always the best way to go.

Usually a pub or cafe... Although I live in a seasonal area so a lot of businesses close for 8-9 months of the year.

I met my fwb on a beach we then grabbed take-out coffees from a nearby shop (the only place that was open) and took a stroll during which he gleefully tried to push me into the water twice

The worst place suggested for a social in my experience... ‘come round to my place’. Ah no!

The best social venue was definitely the arcade. Armed with buckets of 2ps and competitively collecting tokens. Makes both parties at ease. Gives something to talk about and guaranteed giggles.

Gym spa

Pool/snooker bar

Park near graveyard

Karaoke bar

Cinema

Bowling

I always do socials first so trying a different place every time not to get bored, and having fun whilst enjoying a drink gives me idea if I want them to take my clothes off later in my place or if we are both going home alone

The worst place I would’ve thought would be somewhere that you wouldn’t use as a date location.

The best place I’d say would be an arcade or if you’re both into sports then something like top golf

"Someone asked me to go for a walk along the canal with them once "

To be honest the social where I was the least nervous was when we went to a park and walked along the river chatting. I’m not great with the coffee/pub thing. All seems a bit false, if I met someone in a pub when I was out normally I’d be totally fine and my usual self. I just don’t seem to be able to on a fab social. It’s odd.

Coffee/cafes etc way too boring and not for me. I often take charge with suggestions or surprise someone. Some of my most happiest memories were socials.

I won't go into details in here just incase someone actually allows me to take them out on a social. Miracles can happen!

I completely understand this OP. I get so fed up with suggesting where to meet for a social that I've put in my profile that if a man can be bothered to suggest somewhere, then I can't be bothered to meet him. After all if he's so unimaginative/thoughtless at the outset, what's he going to be like in bed?

"I treat a social equally as I would for a play meet in terms of detail/planning.

Coffee/cafes etc way too boring and not for me. I often take charge with suggestions or surprise someone. Some of my most happiest memories were socials.

I won't go into details in here just incase someone actually allows me to take them out on a social. Miracles can happen!

Food is always guaranteed.

Yes- but if you don’t share pics we’re not going to turn up on a blind date are we?

What you like hey TeamPerve!

We are fellow 69ers, but it's what Cilla Black wanted. Surprise! Surprise!

I nearly was on blind date but got turned away just before I went on live - I was devastated "

Oh damn! Did not realise even after you been selected can get turned away last second. That would have been awesome if you was on it. I used to enjoy that back in the days

"It is nice when the guy suggests somewhere to, seems to be rare.

I always suggest the lady chooses so that it is somewhere she feels comfortable, and safe.

This is a cop-out

I prefer them to let me choose. I'd be wary otherwise. "

Wary about what?

If they insisted on somewhere I didn't know I wouldn't meet them.

If it's a public place in an easily accessible populated area I don't see the problem. A choice of venue can also give a clue as to whether you are likely to get on. If someone suggests one of my favourite places, I know that he's on my wavelength and likely to be a winner (as long as there is physical attraction /chemistry in person)
