Ours is this Saturday and the amount of crap that’s gone on this year I see a few kick offs happening once the alcohol starts to flow. Dunno whether to be excited or nervous.
Are you having one?, are you going to it? |

I'm going to one in a couple of weeks, don't really know why since all the younger folk will get boozed up & rowdy & conversation will be impossible due to the disco that seems to be escential to people having a good time. |

oh the noise, yeah would rather talk without having to shout, then find yaself laughing as smiling when you’ve not heard a bloody word that’s been said |

Mines in a few weeks time, the ones who normally go are a boring bunch who clearly don't get out much, they'll be d*unk and phoning taxis by 22:30! So me and my hot assistant have made plans to go out elsewhere afterwards |

There and to the left a bit |
The big one is this week but I shan't be attending - it's a couple of beer tokens each and then an overpriced bar with a few nibbles floating around and lots of interminable small talk which is just not for me.
Have a team one a few weeks later, which we have to pay for, but is much more fun.
Long gone for most are the days when a Xmas do at work was a fully paid for "thank you" to staff for efforts during the year and a chance to let your hair down at the expense of the company. |

I try my best every year to get out of them
I don't drink all that much
Pissed up people irritate me
I don't do 'dancing'
The food is invariably crap
Forced jollity
No, not for me |

a quandary, could you change my mind? |
Have my works do on a Friday with people I have met with a handful of times. Then I have several more I've been invited to from other companies not sure about those but will probably go. |

We’re having one! We’re the only one in our cluster to have one. I quite like everyone I work with so I’m looking forward to it |

I work for a large organisation so we normally have one for each large team. I missed last year as I was coming back from Manchester and couldn’t be arsed to go
This year we are not having one - didn’t want to go anyway.

Mine’s on a Thursday night but it’s two nights before the Manchester social and I will have a visitor that night so I’m definitely not going. It’s rubbish having it on a week night anyway. Last years was the same, I ended up cornered by a sleaze from sales why kept telling me how dark I was and mysterious. I laughed at him and said ‘you have no idea mate, no idea’ |

We're going to the pub round the corner from work for a meal on Friday. Table booked stupidly early and once we've eaten I'm out of there, not really in to forced small talk with people who in the man are backstabbers. Only going because I'm not giving some colleagues the satisfaction of me not going. Hopefully I'll be home by 7! |

Never again will I suffer the utter expensive, shitty crap that are the Christmas events.
Crammed in with people you'd rather avoid, eating massed produced, bad quality food, suffering cringe worthy 'entertainment' and the oneupmanship of who is wearing the most expensive outfit.
...and paying a huge amount of money for it. Once was enough. |

Mines in a couple of weeks. Not looking forward to it at all.
I've only just joined the company and don't know many people here yet. I appreciate it's a good opportunity to network, but this year feels a bit "meh..." |

I've got a meal in 2 weeks with my team which I'll be paying for some drinks.
Big one is my works one which falls on my birthday, hopefully they'll leave us to it so the wild child can come out to play |

I’m going to two company Christmas parties .... the 1st is always by far the worst! Management behave respectably and will halt at a reasonable intake of alcohol ‘ not at the Christmas party’ type thing....
Office staff.... it’s just becomes a drink fest, loud, stupid and makes me cringe.... |

As I read on a status update this week that made me laugh.... I’m sure he won’t mind if I quote it here...
“ work colleagues are like slinky springs, mostly useless but you can’t help smiling when you push one down the stairs” |

I think myself very lucky then. Our company pays for everything and puts us up overnight in a 5* hotel for free... Bloody love it I do |

So does ours ... well not quite 5* but it’s a nice hotel and a lovely venue |

I was shocked the first one I went to, but now I just figure we deserve it! |

I'm driving - and giving no one a lift.
That means I can depart if things get messy, I won't get ratted and I'll have a cold one waiting in the fridge for when I get home. |
