Yea I remember returning American History X with my boyfriend because the tape wasn't working in our player, the woman popped it in the video player in the shop, all the screens suddenly filled with Ed Norton violently fucking a screaming woman |

Going to the video shop was a Friday night family tradition. We’d spend far too long in there choosing 2 films that we all mostly agreed on. Then we’d get £1 each to spend on sweets from the shop next door. Home, PJs and snuggle on the sofa watching movies and eating rubbish snacks. My dad would provide the entertainment by asking ‘who’s that?’, ‘what’s happening?’, ‘which film was she in?’ every 5 minutes. He still does it.
Good times |

We still remember the hand jive dance
“We’re getting a video” was our Friday night excuse to parents so we could barricade Lacey’s bedroom door and fully enjoy each other’s company |

"I remember betamax, remote on a wire
I remember those! The remote only operated the pause function and they had huge pianoe keys for buttons."
I used to have a Sony Betamax, it had a wireless remote, but it cost about £450 when I bought it in 1984
I used to live out in the sticks and Blockbuster was the other side of town, so we used to use a little independent corner shop/off licence that had converted the entire upstairs to a video section, they were incredibly well stocked, and if you wanted a particular film that wasn't on the shelf, they would get hold of a copy and let you watch it free of charge the following weekend |

The first midi system I bought was a Sony and it cost me like 2 months salary, at the time it was THE business but in comparison to today's music systems it's eyewatering but I adored it, sat waiting to pause the adverts, recording the top 40 on a Sunday |
